At the ranges you are referring to I think they would work. I used to have a situation like that. I premeasure the range to landmarks. I would also test fire if possible. I personally think that shots over 400 yards on deer bring in too many variables to be real ethical from my experience but I don't speak for anyone else.
 
For 0-400, it’s pretty fair to say turrets aren’t critical. A simple milling reticle and some practice will get the job done. No dialing turrets at all. Past that, when things start dropping enough to matter, then knobs turn, and a guy needs to know how much according to their current environmental condition, including both temperature-dependent muzzle velocity and air density.
 
With a 200yd zero.. turrets arent even necessary for a 400yd shot.. it's not hard to hold over 24" on a deer and hit the vital zone.

I dunno.. maybe Ill get a Burris instead.
