Could be, I only found one review and the guy was using it on an AR.

I still really want to try one, but even my curiosity is balked by a nearly 300dollar Oops
i have seen a few burris timberlines on 527, did not read what they thought tho. the older burris ultra lights were nice, but lower power. what's the farthest shots you take when shooting targets. you can get away with less for hunting.

I'll plink at rocks and stuff out past 500yds as long as I can hit them in a couple shots. With my 24" Grendel and 6-18x40 Mk-Ar, that actually want very hard, but that thing hurled those 123s at very close to 2700fps. My slower 20 got blown around pretty good.
For actually trying to shoot a group on target, I'm only good to about 400-450. 7-9x is doable, 14x is min comfort, and I'll take more if I can get it.

there is a nice little 2-10 sighthorn but it's 30mm.

Leupold catalogs this at 11.6 oz which I would believe over Amazon’s description. I know you aren’t overly keen on Leupold glass but the VX-Freedom (according to Leupold) inherited its glass from the now discontinued VX-2. I have this scope in the 4-12AO CDS version and the 6-18AO CDS and both are really nice. I didn’t scale them but noticeably light and compact. The 6-18x is listed at 14 oz.

So my decisions been made for me.
I had the Timberline, and leupold vx-3i in my Amazon cart last night when my wife wanted to buy beads. She ordered the timberline for me since it was cheaper than the leupy. Just called me from work to tell me not to double order lol.
Not that I'm complaining, this is the second time she offered/bought me something in the last year, pretty spiffy!

nice, i like that scope. would not mind one for my self. the cz's are balanced nice i don't think you will fell the extra oz or 2. plus great power for the length. don't loose that women lol.

I'm hoping I like it, seems like a good fit for what I want.
I was actually leaning towards the clearidge, or vx-f efr, for some reason, perhaps just cause they were lighter and AO as well.

I'm actually trading into a few guns that can use compact/light scopes, so I can shuffle stuff should I prefer something besides the timberline on the 527.....I'm pretty sure it's going to be a good fit tho.

I'm not sure how I'm going to lose her, she's rather good at finding her way home :D
I do.need to be extra nice for a while tho. I wonder if I'm good enough her offering to buy stuff will be a regular occurrence......course she bought the scope with out joint Amazon card....

So got a set of Burris med rings in. Weight was 4.9oz.
I poked a couple holes in the bottom and dropped weight to 4.6oz.
Gonna swap out the socket head screws for buttons which will shave .006 oz..... actually they will just look nicer.

If I poked a couple visible holes, could probably drop another decent chunk of weight

Ha, that is funny. I have been watching this thread with interest because I have a 527 M1 American on the way and want to put a light 12x on it. Looking at the Leupold Freedom, Vortex Diamondback, and Burris Timberline. Going to to try to out my hands on each of those locally before I pick.

Don't have much to add, but greatly appreciate the info dump in this thread. I am going to have to resist the urge to go too far down the weight shaving rabbit hole.

I actually got my timberline couple days ago, played with it some but haven't gotten to try it on anything. My FFL buddy decided he didn't wanna make two trips to town, so he's waiting for my second rifle before meeting up lol.

I'll shave oz (or less lol) where it dosent take much work, and can do so where what I'm doing can't be seen. I may borrow the drill/mill at work to change my round holes into squarish ones. Might actually be able to get an oz!

I have a 2-7x crossfire on my 7.62x39 Howa Mini and it is a good match with that rifle (which weighs in at 6.6lb, a goal my 527 will never touch with an unscoped weight of 6.4 lb). The 223 definitely calls for higher magnification, for my eyes at least.

My concern with the timberline is the long eye relief. I usually find that I am too close to a scope, and the CZ is very likely to be the same even with the slightly longer 14" pull of the M1. The diamondback has much shorter relief, and lots of clearance isn't necessarily on a 223 to avoid a bite. Need to go look through them to get a sense of whether that will be an issue.

Informative thread; thanks. I need to get my hands on one of the SWFA ultralights. It sounds like a dandy scope, but I'd like to check the eye relief myself.

And I'll have to try leaving a nice scope in my Amazon shopping cart (which I share with my wife) to see if it magically appears! :)

Best of luck on both counts!

I may try that UL at some point, but I'm very happy with this Burris. If they are discontinued, I may go buy a couple more or see if they go on clearance anywhere.

Scope on gun pics and some kinda bad pictures thru the scope. Also the neat stuff it came with.
