My cousin is looking to get his wife a lightweight ar15 and im just looking for any suggestions on whats out there right now.Ideally it would consist of a 14.5 threaded upper that he could have a SJC titan compensator pin and welded to. Would like to stay in the rifle category if possible no SBR's and would like to stay away from pistols if possible.

Larue PredatAR 16" barrel- $225
Upper Receiver- $80
PSA or AIM BCG- $80
Stripped lower - $50
Free float - $150
PSA lower build kit- $100
flash hider/gas tube/CH - $45

$725ish total, sub moa, about 5.8lbs.

Kinda like mine, which I have about $1100 into. It also has a lightweight milled out upper, DD sights and a Larue trigger.

Jackal's got it right. Gotta build it. I recently built a similar rifle with BCM light weight rails for about the same cost. Used a blem lower I paid 50$ for, but other than that, the costs are spot on.

Not sure of quality, I was looking for cheap truck gun and so far has worked flawlessly.

anderson lower 60 buds
ar stoner 16" upper 330 midway
magpul mbus rear sight 55 midway
delton enhanced lower with 2 stage trigger 126 midway
buffer, end plate, spring, receiver ext 40 midway
magpul ctr 57 midway

Little over 6 bills. Thinking if adding a vortex red dot for 200.

You could buy a Colt 6720 if you want a factory lightweight. That will be a 16" rifle, but it's sub 6 lbs. from the factory and is in your price range.

If you want a 14.5", you probably will need to build. I'd look into Faxon's Gunner barrels. Great profile... I have 2 and love them. BCM also sells 14.5" lightweights... their ELW barrel is a great profile and comes in 14.5". They have a "lightweight" profile that is good too if you want a barrel with a FSB. PSA occasionally offers pencil profile uppers of various flavors, including ones with FN CHF barrels every now and then.

You say this is a wife's gun... if it's just going to be a plinker and will not see serious use or training, you might consider some of the low end ones. The DPMS Oracle has a pencil barrel and is very light from the factory. Del-Ton sells pencil profile rifles and kits too.
