I'm thinking about going to a Linebaugh seminar this summer. It's less than 100 miles down the road and can even be considered convenient.

What are the pros and cons? What should I expect of it and what will be expected of me?

Never been

It is old school! Most of the big names in handgunning will be there or have attended in the past. It's quite the social event. You will also do a lot of shooting, meet interesting people and see(participate) in shooting you wouldn't think possible with a handgun.
Long range handgunning and penetration testing in wet newsprint are favorite events. If your favorite load doesn't go through two feet of wet newsprint you might be laughed off the range or forced to wear a dress.

If you consider yourself quite the handgunner you will find out how much you don't know. If you are a beginner you will certainly have your eyes opened.

It should be quite the experiance. If you do go, please be sure and post here when you get back.

I'd love to go to one of those someday! I talked to John Linebaugh about them once; you can be an active participant or just hang back and watch, its up to you. Either way I'm sure you will have a "blast"! ;)

We have them

Let's put it this way. Old School is almost like having McGivern, Keith and Atkins there talking revolvers to you. The guns are revolvers. The calibers are large, the actions are single and the fun is explosive.

Our club has hosted a Linebaugh seminar for the past few years now. It was worth it to attend, learn and participate. I can now make my Model 25-5 do things that I only imagined doing with it, thanks to the warnings in the reloading books. You learn yours' and your guns' capacity and how to get near it but not exceed it - i.e. not breaking it by blowing it up yet stuffing it with powerful loads that get the full potential out of the caliber that you are using.

I'm not a big fan of single action revolvers, only having them in black powder, but even if you are not a fan of the single action, you will learn and have fun doing it! (Hint - you also get to try them, light, and powerful loads)

Bottom line, if you like to shoot handgun in either target or hunting, you'll like this seminar.

The Doc is out now.
