Loadbooks USA "270 Winchester" Reloading Manual or whatever calibers

Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they worth the money? Should I do something else with my $7 bucks? I already have Lyman's 48th & ABC's of

I can get info from the bullet, powder mfg's - for free, but it is often limited.

Loadbooks are just a compilation of material from other loading manuals, restricted to one caliber. I bought one and consider it a waste of money, since I already owned all the manuals that were copied in it.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I own one and think it's great. But then again I purchased it when I first started reloading and the only other book I had was Speer #13. If you already own a large volume of reloading manuals, you're just purchasing duplicate data. If you don't, or don't want to, then the manuals are a good buy.

Basically, they are a photocopied booklet of the major bullet and powder manufacturers load data.

Because I did not own any manual, except the Lee that came with the Anniversary Kit, I bought the .357mag Loadbook. It was handy at first, but now I no longer use it as I have settled on my loads for that caliber. I keep it around, just in case I experiment with other powders or bullets. As mentioned, it's really just a copied compendium of all the popular manual's data for a given load.

Well worth the money if you are experimenting with different manufacturer's bullets and do not have a bookshelf full of manuals.

I bought it in both 10mm and .223 rem. It is just a compilation of other data, but it's very handy. Easy to flip between pages to compare load data, and having it all in one little book is a plus. I think I paid 8 bucks which I consider to be a good value for the data you get.

I have since bought the Lee manual and it has more data in it (it is also a reprint of manufacture data) so you may want to skip the loadbooks and order Lee manual - 13 bucks from Grafs.

They're mostly getting pretty long in the tooth, without updates. What with load data available from powder manufacturers, and even some bullet vendors on the web, their usefulness is increasingly limited.

I wanna know how they get away with distributing what amount to photocopies of the pages in other peoples' manuals.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll probably pass on them. By the time I pay for a few I could get something I can't do without. Set of dies or trimmer, y'all know how it is.

WNTFW...Good...I agree with ReloaderFred on this. I bought one a few years ago and figured out where their information came from and gave it away...Never even looked back. As ReloaderFred. I have most of the manuals that were used to compile loadbooks...
