I loaded 9mm,40sw,10mm and 45 acp with blue dot and mag primers. Blue dot is the slowest powder i have on hand that will work with pistol rounds. Trying to make better use of the longer barrel in them. I have 2400 but i like it for reduced rifle loads. I'll do a grouping test at 50 yards. If that works out; I'll load more and chrono them.

I had trouble with it not burning well in 10mm before with standard primers. Magnum primers took care of that for me. The 9mm 125 grain i loaded with 6 grains a little light but with in data. Going much above it would be compressed. Im not keen on compressing smokless powders.

I agree with you on pistol cartridges

In a center fire, bottle neck cartridge, a compressed load is what I look for, consistency.

I have a Hi-Point 9mm carbine and a 45ACP carbine. They are both VERY reliable and accurate, with the 45ACP being the most accurate.

Also have a Hi-Point 9mm pistol and a 45ACP pistol. Both are VERY reliable and accurate. Their only downside is their weight. I don't mind it, but they are heavy.

Difficult to beat for the price. For most of my loads, I use W231 powder.

.....and yes, I have other guns

Should work fine. Blue Dot has a reputation for reacting poorly to low pressure but the longer barrel should help. It needs some barrel to burn in. Watch out for blow back. If I recall, the Hi Point is not a locked breech.
In powders that like a little pressure to burn clean. A heavy for caliber bullet is best.
I found good accuracy with blue dot for in 38 special with 180 gr cast bullets. A little smokey. But it gave similar velocity to 158 grain loads.
It worked well in 40S&W with 165s in a 4"barrel.

I load for my HP 9mm carbine with Promo under a 100 gr jacketed RN. I wanted velocity as well as accuracy. I can get between 1400-1500 fps with those components and nice accuracy with an inexpensive red dot sight.

What weight bullet are you using in 9mm?

If they shoot good and accurate. Next time out i'll chrono them. I'll shoot some through a 9mm 1911 too. And compare the atvatage of the longer barrel. The loads i did in 9mm are closer to starting data.

In the 10mm, either BD or 2400, or both, would be interesting. :)

Yuppers! Blue Dot really shines in the .44Spl too with almost any weight bullet - lead or jacketed. I really like it with a 200gr BNWC.
