I recently purchased some 150 grain hornady soft points, I would really like to use W760 to reload them because I have considerably more of it than anything else. It is proving difficult to find load data for it. I CAN source load data for 155 grain soft points using W760 from hogdon. I find it strange that i can locate the data i want for a 155 but not 150, has anyone used 760 for 150 grain bullets? does the 5 grains of lead make a difference?

W760 is a slow burning powder that is normally used with heavier for caliber bullets. The data I saw at hodgens was for 155 siearra hpbt likely a match bullet with a longer bearing surface. I checked Lyman 49 and even my Speer #11 which is from the lare 80's or early 90's no data with 760 for 150 gr bullets. It's too slow for that weight.

Iirc if the bullet is too light for powder burn speed it could cause rings in the barrel, because the bullet will be pushed too far ahead of gasses, the bullet slows and powder gas hits it like an obstruction.

I've used 760 in 243 win with 100gr bullets, 7mm08 139gr through 160 gr and 3006 with 165 and heavier.
