I have some SS109 I'm loading for a friend.
Both of us have 16" barrels and I'm having trouble finding the ideal velocity to mimick M885.

I can find velocities for a 20" barrel, just not 16"

Anyone happen to know this, or know where I can find it?

24.6gr of H335 with wolf primer in a RORG case gives me about 2800fps.

M855 should give you around 3,050-3,100 from a 20" barrel, and around 2,950-3,000 from a 16" weapon.
Duplicating it is pretty hard to do at safe pressure levels.
You could probably come closest with Varget powder.

Personally, I never load that hot.
I can get better brass & gun life by dropping down a tad from MAX loads.
With less risk of a tired case ruining my gun & face.

The steel targets & hedge balls I mostly shoot at can't seem to tell any differance.

Were I fighting in Iraq, that last 100 -200 FPS might matter.
Here, it doesn't.

Thanks for the advice.

So do you think that around 2800 or so should be a good upper limit for this?

Your load sounds fine to me.

It is 0.4 grains below max listed in the Hodgon powder guide with the 63 grain Sierra.

Better safe then Mil-Spec I think!
