Today I took a drive around all the local pawn shops hoping to find some Reloading Powder and I found a mom and pops pawn shop, I never would have thought they would have any Powder. I asked the elderly man if he had any Reloading Powder of any kind and he told me he may have some in the back, when he came back he had 1# of 748, 2# of 231, 1# of no.7, 1# of 4320 and 1# of 4227., I asked him if he had any 22 mag bullets, he laughed, I says would you like to trade a Brick of 500 for all the Powder and he jumped on the trade.haha. all new unopend bottles too.....great trade....

Not often you hear about folks sticking it to a pawn shop.

A brick of 22 mag. for all that powder? You made out like a bandit!

We have a pawn shop here that has been selling reloading supplies for decades, and they have a pretty good selection also. During this powder/primer crunch we've been dealing with, they have often had things when nobody else did, but they charge a premium price for it too. Back in 2009 when things first started going south, I couldn't find LRM primers any where, they had cases piled all over the store, literally, CCI-250's, at $50 per K though.

I guess I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing here. I think it was an OK deal but not a killer deal.

6# of powder, 5 of which I can use, will run you ~$150
A brick or 500 Winchester .22 Magnum ammo is $134 right now.
500 rounds of CCI .22 Mags are listed for between $100 & $125 but of course they are not in stock. Remington .22 Mags are listed as high as $175.

Like I said, an OK deal but nothing to get way excited about, IMO of course...

All depends when he bought the ammo and whether he still has a gun to shoot it. All of my 22lr stock I got before all this madness hit. Brick of Fed Lightening (automatch) I only paid $13/500 for I have over 13k of it stashed.

Oh I know all that but, it looks like powders are becoming much more available than rimfire ammo so the rimfire ammo is harder to replace. I still have a lot of .22LR and .22Mag ammo and I would not want to let go of any of it because it looks like we won't be seeing any until the next presidential election. (and maybe 4 years after that if things go wrong again)

I agree, I'm not getting rid of any. I like shoot it on a regularly. 22 is a lot scarcer than pistol powders around here. Rifle powders are starting to get back to normal. Pistol powders are still in short supplies.

But if he no longer has a gun that uses it, would make the decision easier.

About the 22 magnum ammo and where it came from.. about a year ago I bought a ruger single six convertable with both cylinders and all of his ammo about 900rnds of cci hp's and a really nice marshall Dillon style western holster all for $ 400 and I already have a Dakota 1873 made by uberti and a ruger m77 both in 22 mag and I have at least a 1,000 rnds or more still yet. What Powder im seeing on the shelf where I normally buy is now $32.95 a pound. Im the kind of person that if I can't reload it like a rimfire I stock up. And since I do a lot of GS work in my area I find plenty of deals.more than I can buy, like yesterday A man wanted to sell me a taurus ultralight 38 speacial model 84 If im remembering correct with the box it came in and a box of 50 bullets all for $220.00... I now. Anyone that needs brass for 223,308,300blkout DiamondKBrass has free shipping and free polishing today is the last day they have pistol Brass too....

You have connections archangel, at the LGS I can't get powder for under $28 a lb. I'm guessing the guy can sell the brick a lot easier than the powder. I'm guessing few people go to a pawn shop for pistol powder.
