I know this is a long shot, but my good friends father is trying to locate the
M1 Garand he was issued in the Marine Corp. The M1 was manufactured by International Harvester, Serial Number 4652591. Records indicate it was manufactured in 1953. My friends father turned it in when he was discharged in May of 1957. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That is a near impossible feat.

You will have to literally scour the world, from the gunsafes of America to the slums of Haiti.

It's entirely possible that Clinton torched it in half in the 1990's.

I have one, but it's not the one you're looking for. 6,099,904 to go. :)

Yes, that is a near impossible task.

At the EOTAC forum there is a listing of Garand SNs owned by members. You might try posting there as well or the CMP forum or the Garand Collectors forum.

I kind of figured that, but it was worth a try. I'll give 10X's advice a try.Thanks.

It's not one of mine, and I can't recall that any of my friends have an IHC. Don't give up hope, there was an instance about a year ago of a guy finding his father's Korea-era and purchasing it as a Christmas present for his dad.
