I want to get a lock box for my truck for either under the front seat or back seat.
I did a search and didn't really see an answer to my question.

I don't want anything electronic so I am leaning towards a key or combination
Seems like all the combination ones I see (that I want to spend the money on) are tumbler style.

I think I like the idea of not having another key to keep track of but could be swayed that way if they benefits are there.

What are the opinions here?

Thanks in advance

This won't answer your question but I bought a little lockbox for my 2017 F150 4 door. Didn't fit under my car seat.
Bought a cable lock to put around my seat console. Misplaced the farking key.
I hope YMVs.

If you got an old ammo can and you have some metal working skill a reasonably secure lock box can be fashioned from one.

I bought a combination lock box that fits between the seats from GM when I bought the truck.
I have a under the rear seat lock box with key from Tuffy, I'm happy with both.

I have an '18 Silverado with the full center console
I looked into the "console vault" but don't like the idea of spending 100+ AND losing a lot of that space for stuff that doesn't need to be locked up.
I assume that is similar to the one you taking about right?

You don't lose that space. When using a tumbler lock, you do not need to lock it....rather just close the lid when not securing a weapon.

I have Lock'er Down Extreme Console safes in a Tundra, Sequoia, and 4Runner. All with the tumbler lock. All have the space available for other items.

Let me rephrase a little bit, I have a console organizer in there to keep the little things tidy and either solution for a "vault" would require me to remove that as well as the handy little pocket at the front of the console as well which in my case would mean I was losing space / storage.

At any rate, I found a rather nice lock box at our local Dunham's with tumbler lock on sale (so I bought 2) that seems to be pretty heavy duty and will fit in the space under my back seat nicely.
The only thing I think I may do is upgrade the cable that came with it to something heavier.
The 38 snubby fit in there perfectly.

I do appreciate the suggestions.

I have a 19 Denali, I'm sure they are the same. They gave a coupon for some accessories when I bought it. I opted for the safe. It doesn't take up the whole console, it doesn't fit all the way to the top, leave a space above the vault.

Gun Vault...Key Pad with Key back up. Sometimes I use the key and for blind entry the keypad...

I bought a sentry safe from amazon for $60 and removed the center console insert and bolted it to the floorboard with the door facing up.
It just depends were you want to mount it as to what size and type you need. here is an amazon search for sentry safes.

Here is a link to the one I purchased and installed in the console mentioned above.

There are several varations to this same box, some have a keypad and key, but all I wanted was the key only type so I did not have to worry about batteries.
