Looking at these 2 pistols for shooting and having fun with my .45 reloads

I am looking at two different pistols for messing around and shooting my reloads. The S&W Shield 45 and the XD45 Fullsize. Both are very different but I am on the fence about which one to get. Either one will be used and not new. I have a Glock in .45acp but I want a more supported chamber and these two fit the bill for me. Which would you choose and why ? So far I'm leaning towards the XD45 . I have others to carry and conceal so that's no problem but those two pistols are in my price range and are reliable.

Sounds like a range gun and I always prefer a full sized range gun. Wife has a Shield 9mm and a fun range gun it is not.

I'm not sure of the exact website name, but I recently got a full-sized M&P 45 from Kings Firearms Online. It came with the box, all three grips, and four magazines for $249 + $15 shipping. Mine is in very nice shape and is a great shooter. You might want to see if they have any left.

My favorite current 45 reload burners are a stainless Colt lightweight commander and an old Smith snubby 325. I occasionally throw in a Kimber CDP Ultra. All three different guns; all three great guns with slightly reduced loads and 200 grain lead semiwadcutter bullets.

BOARHUNTER

Between the two I much prefer the ergonomics of the S&W Shield .45 over the Springfield Armory XD45. If this is primarily going to be a range gun then I would suggest (as others already have), of getting the full size S&W M&P .45.

WOW that's Crazy awesome !

I ended up finding a fullsize XD45 Service model 4 inch barrel . It is a new "old stock" gun made in 2014 but still new on the shelf. I got it for $400 . I am pleased ! Shoots great. Gonna bathe it tomorrow in Ballistol and let it soak in. Thanks for all the information guys.

I think you made a great choice. The XD will definitely be more fun to shoot being full sized. Enjoy.
