I really enjoy shooting clay targets, but quite often I do not have anyone to go with me so that we can run the thrower for the other guy to shoot. Are any of the inexpensive foot triggered units any good?
I built a few over the years that plug into 2” receivers. Sit on the tail gate with a box of clays and push away to cock and throw with either leg. I can put 3 in the air before the first hits the ground. When you get off the pedal it’s safe as your leg is what tensions the main spring, without your food on it there is no tension on it.
I use the Champion Wheelie bird. Works well, but I don't think it's fast enough to put three in the air. Can't say that I've ever tried more than two in the air though, I'm doing good if I can hit two.
You can save your muscles and get an electric thrower with a foot pedal switch. It'll be worth it in the long run. Plus, you can load a stack of clays in it at one time. Buy once, cry once. Plus, all your buddies will be wanting to borrow it. Or go in together with a group and buy one.
It started out to just be a mount so the thing wouldn’t jump out of the sand, using it. As soon as I had it mounted the idea poped into my head instantly. Clays on the right cooler on the left. I still remember several of us had both shoulders bruised the weekend we had several of them and a spring teal/rabbit thrower I built. Haven‘t thrown and shot as many clays since.
I always thought it was one of my better ideas but when affordable Electric ones came out, I started using them more and more. 4 channel remotes and wobblers I built are more fun for me. Can throw clays towards or away from you in any direction. It’s actually pretty fun setting one in one bay and hit them as they come over the berm at various locations.
If you are not interest in a top end machine, they are really pretty cheap these days.

I can’t believe I just said $200 was cheap but then I just spent that much on a tank of diesel…
