Looking for a good carry pistol, any experienced carriers?

See if you can fondle or read up on a Beretta PX4 Storm SubCompact. I love mine. The full size version is nice too.... but the SubCompact tucks away nicely. Stainless steel barrel to ward off effects of sweat. 13 round magazine and it shoots like a dream. A bit pricey but worth a look if you like hammer fired weapons.

If you don't consider the Beretta 92 too large for CCW then might I suggest a FN-P9 or FN-P40. An exceptional value and a great shooters but not something the I would carry (I carry a commander size 1911).

The SR9 is a good gun with a 1911 feel. The trigger is not it's best feature by any means but it does smooth out with use. Very slim and lots of rounds. Ghost is working on a replacement trigger that I am really looking forward to trying when they finally release it.

Hello guys. Long time reader, first time poster:D

I currently carry an SR9 as my primary EDC in the fall/winter. Granted, I have to wear an over-shirt or jacket, but with a leather holster I built for it it rides very slim to my back. Low enough not to be off balance but high enough that the bottom of the holster just flirts with the tail of my shirt.

When I went 9mm shopping some time back, I didn't really select this gun as a CCW. It was primarily going to be my range/ HD back up weapon. I picked it over the other competitors because, quite frankly, it felt the best in-hand.

Upon getting my CCW and tinkering with making a holster (ugly, ugly leatherwork is a hobby of mine), I found that this slim pistol rides really well. Would I RATHER have a .45, .40, or .357 on me in a time of need, sure. I'd rather have a bazooka that shoots exploding radioactive poodles. However, 17 rounds of JHP 9mm gives me plenty of fuzzy feelings when I'm in an area that is not so desirable. I don't have the room or desire to pack multiple mags, so high capacity is a really nice feature.

In short: Stomping around in the woods/wilds: .357 4" on hip/Outback 12 gauge slung over shoulder. Shorts/T-shirt weather: P-64 IWB or stuffed in pocket (hey, 9x18 is cheap and 6 rounds of it is better than nothin'). Every other day: SR9.

No problems with mine so far:)

There is no answer for you.

We're all shaped differently, we all dress differently (from choice and locale), and we all have different carry preferences.

What works for one of us, may not work for anyone else.

You'll need to borrow a friend's gun and see how it fits for your carry preferences.

Amen!

I've carried several different guns in 25 years of licensed CCW and finally settled on the G19, personally, with no desire or reason to change -- but YMMV.

You really owe it to yourself to try the Smith & Wesson M&P before you buy. Most honest people will tell you that it is just about the most comfortable carry pistol out there today. You can get it in full-size or compact configurations in 9mm, 357 Sig, 40 S&W and 45 ACP. I loved my first M&P so much that I bought four more to make an M&P family.

Let me second the M&P I love mine, when I carry IWB I do kinda wish I had the compact instead but thats just a good reason to get a second gun.
