Hello guys. Long time reader, first time poster
I currently carry an SR9 as my primary EDC in the fall/winter. Granted, I have to wear an over-shirt or jacket, but with a leather holster I built for it it rides very slim to my back. Low enough not to be off balance but high enough that the bottom of the holster just flirts with the tail of my shirt.
When I went 9mm shopping some time back, I didn't really select this gun as a CCW. It was primarily going to be my range/ HD back up weapon. I picked it over the other competitors because, quite frankly, it felt the best in-hand.
Upon getting my CCW and tinkering with making a holster (ugly, ugly leatherwork is a hobby of mine), I found that this slim pistol rides really well. Would I RATHER have a .45, .40, or .357 on me in a time of need, sure. I'd rather have a bazooka that shoots exploding radioactive poodles. However, 17 rounds of JHP 9mm gives me plenty of fuzzy feelings when I'm in an area that is not so desirable. I don't have the room or desire to pack multiple mags, so high capacity is a really nice feature.
In short: Stomping around in the woods/wilds: .357 4" on hip/Outback 12 gauge slung over shoulder. Shorts/T-shirt weather: P-64 IWB or stuffed in pocket (hey, 9x18 is cheap and 6 rounds of it is better than nothin'). Every other day: SR9.
No problems with mine so far
