I have come across a few comments in reviews about certain brands not being tall enough to hit the ban on some beam scales.

Also if you bought tricklers that you regret please share.

The Hornady is not tall enough to work with the GP250. I had to add a extension (1.25") to the base in which I added weight to make it hard to knock over. Don't have a Dillon scales, but most are near the same height.

I bought my RCBS many decades ago. For my Dillon digital scale i just set the trickler on a box-o-cartridges. For my Lyman beam scale it was not necessary. The RCBS is a stable trickler. Height is not an issue for me.

I like my RCBS tickler. It is made of pot metal with a weighted extension base, very stable with great powder flow. Mine is the right height for my RCBS 505 beam scale pan.

Used the F A version for a while. Heavy, (which is good) and height wasn't an issue as there are plenty of things one can use to 'adjust' that, Switched to a digital dispenser and haven't used the trickler/beam system since.

I have a RCBS trickler and a Redding trickler. The Redding is the better looking of the two but doesn't trickle powder any better than any other trickler. I have used both of these tricklers with Redding and RCBS beam scales.

I can't vote, this is all I have ever used, I don't know who made it. My dad probably had someone at the glass plant he worked at make it for him.

It works with all my equipment including the Hornady bench scale in the top edge of the picture. The spout is threaded so it dispenses powder as I turn it.
I've been using it since 1970 so I don't know about anything else.
If anyone recognizes it I would love to know anything they know about it.

I use this one for loading rifle when I trickle but it has been discontinued.
Haven't tried others since this one works for me

this looks like the new version

New version looks like it's about $7 or 33% more, ouch!

Not fair! You could make a but rub out of a cactus.
(probably true, with a gear motor driven applicator, with speed controller of course:))

The new RCBS comes with the adjustable riser & counterweight. It also has an extension for the tube to reach further. Both of these were done to make the unit compatible with all beam & digital scales. The rubber base can also angle the trickler at a slight angle to improve feed or be level for other powders. They seem to have thought of everything !!! I am leaning for the RCBS.

I went to my local Cabbala's. They had the Hornady, Lyman, FA & RCBS on the shelf.

Hornady - This one was in a sealed pkg. So I could only look at it. It was very lite in weight. It was a hollow plastic body.

Lyman - Very wide & weighted base. It is all plastic. The base has a non skid material on the bottom. The tube is held in place with 'O-Rings'.

RCBS - The measure body is either a Aluminum or Magnesium die casting. The tube is aluminum. The Black Rubber base is weighted and give very solid feel.

FA (Franklin Arsenal) - This is very heavy. I could not remove from the package. The tube is held in place with rubber 'O' rings.

All of them are larger than I envisioned.

I chose the RCBS.

I could take it out of the box. I liked that they let you handle & exam their product. The extension for the feed tube makes it more universal. The tube can be angled like on the Lyman unit. It has the weight and heft close to the FA unit.

When I put it on the shelf next to my scale It was clear I needed the height of the RCBS or the Lyman. My scale is on a glass tile about 3/8" thick. So the tube if I sat just the cast metal base of the RCBS was at pan height and not above it. The Black rubber base fixed that. I like that I have the option to cant the tube down or not based on Powder shape.

It did not spin so smooth so I gave it some graphite dust and wella... smooth. I read that trick on a review of the Redding unit's cast iron body rubbing roughly on the feed tube.

*** Most internet pictures have the RCBS unit incorrectly assembled. You need to look at how RCBS shows the tube & bushing assembled.

I have a few old RCBS tricklers I use with any of several old beam scales. They work fine and in the off chance they sit too low a block of wood will suffice just fine. Sort of a raise the bridge or lower the river affair. I may have a few other brands and my overall experience is they all get things done the same.

Interesting. My RCBS trickler is actually too tall for my RCBS 5-0-5 scale with the base installed (and too short without it). I find powder will sometimes bounce out because it’s dropping from too high up.

I ended up putting the scale on a block of wood.

It’s not too complicated.

Complicated? Not really for someone familiar with this stuff. If the optical switch is an OMRON E3S-GS3B4 PHOTOELECTRIC SWITCH we may be pushing the budget of some of these guys. Unless they find one in an industrial scrap pile. :) Really is a pretty cool trickler configuration and if I am not mistaken going back to when it was first posted you can resolve about 0.1 grain of powder. I really enjoy your projects, very cool stuff.

No, it’s an E3S-GS30E4. It’s $17.50 shipped, or best offer.

It’s quite a bit better than .1 grain it’s +/- a kernel.

I use a RCBS trickler along with the same brand beam scale. To be able to see the beam better I made a base for the scale to raise it a couple of inches on my bench and then made a base for the trickler to make it tall enough to work with the new height of the scale. This isn't a difficult project. A piece of the correct diameter exhaust pipe for the trickler to fit inside, a piece of wooden dowel to fill the pipe, a couple of large flat washers for a heavy base, and some Goop to hold it all together. I did paint the gadget in green so it would match the RCBS color closely.
