Looking for a scope for a Remington .300 Win Mag

Looking for a hunting rifle scope for a Remington 300 Win Mag being able to shoot out to 5 - 600 yards max.

Like to keep it in between 400 and $500 range.

At that price point this is my favorite scope. My favorite at any price point. I don't need anything more expensive. I have few less expensive scopes and they are good for the money, but if you have a $500 budget this is the way to go.

Over the years this scope has been sold under several names. This is the original Zeiss Conquest. Meopta made them for Zeiss and just put Zeiss badges on them. For a while Cabelas sold them with the Euro Instinct name on them. I have 5 altogether. One of the original Zeiss scopes and 4 with Cabelas name on them. When Cabelas discontinued them they sold for $250. I bought 2 new from Cabelas and 2 more used from the classified sections of hunting related internet forums.

I put a 3.5X10 Leupold VX-III on my 700 FS in the 300 Mag.Very good scope,and it's also fairly light,which puts less strain on the mount under recoil.I don't know if you can find a new one for less than $500,but they go for between 3 and 4 used,and with Leupold's warrenty,you can buy a used one with confidence.Their Rifleman and Freedom models are easily under 5 bills,as are the Vari-X 2's.

I have a Conquest 3-9x40 and two MeoPro 3.5-10x44 scopes. They are really good.

I used a viper vortex on my Remington milspec in 300 wm. Lots of good choices out there.

We like the advice on this meopta someone gave you but would also recommend the vortex Viper PST which is an extremely flexible scope and right now are on sale for 499 at eurooptic you can pick up a 4 x 16 x 50 with illumination at that price and a lifetime warranty for free

To my eyes Meopta MeoPro blows the Viper out of the water in low light.

When you're talking 5-600 yds I want something with a reticle pattern, BDC, adjustable turrets or something like a CDS system. Holdovers with a straight duplex will allow you to walk rounds in, but it's just not fine enough for 1st round hits on game animals IMHO.

For example, I've got a 300WM and running 165s at 3168Fps I get 34" of drop at 500 and 59" at 600, with only a 10MPH wind my hold would be 1 deer high over his rear leg (18" of windage) using a duplex reticle at 600. Not fine enough aiming points for a live animal.

I've got one "Hunting scope" a Leupold VX6 HD with BDC and CDS dial that will work to 600 using the CDS function and it's adjustable windage dial, but it's a $1200 scope. IF 5-600 was my goal, I'd look for a scope with turrets and a reticle. Something like a Vortex PST or HST line.

Nikon Monarch should serve you well.
Ya need enough power to see the target though so I would probably look at 6- 24 ish something like that.

Haven’t bought a scope in maybe five years, but were I looking today I’d start with a 4-14 VX-3 (with Firedot if possible). My experience with Leupold for hunting is quite positive

My hunting buddy had Nikon on his rifles until he used my Leupold. He’s switched all of his. I have no experience with Vortex

Make sure you keep weight in mind. I have a Vortex PST 4-16X on my long range rifle and it works pretty well but there’s no way I would want to lug it far from the truck.

I really like my Leupold with the CDS dial on my hunting rifle. I’ve tested it to 400y and it is dead on. Just keep in mind with a CDS that you have to stick with one load for it to work.

I believe the Leupold is nine ounces lighter than the PST- rather substantial.
