Looking for info on a Steyr

First off, this is my first post so be easy on me! I've been browsing these forums for years, not quite sure why I just became a member 5 minutes ago. I have a Steyr Mannlicher rifle that I have recently acquired. I have been looking for some info on it, but havent had much luck. I have seen some for sale, but not like the one I have, nor in the caliber I have. Heres what I know:
- Receiver markings state it is a Steyr M III - Professional
- It has a wood stock, which I cannot find any info on. All of the ones I have seen have had synthetic stocks, or have been "ProHunters"
- The caliber is 25-06, which I have also found no examples of.

Im not trying to play this firearm off as a rarity, I understand that it is from around the early 90's, but I cannot find any info or values for it. I am a newbie to the Steyr line, this is my first. I'm hoping I got a good deal on it, but am wanting to wait to see if anyone else has a figure they can throw out before I say what I have in it. Value isnt the only thing im interested in, any experiences with this rifle are very welcome! I know there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum, i'm hoping the right person will find this thread!

On the Model III wood was an option and adds a 100 dollar premium to the value. The Model III was also offered in 25-06. The SCofF at 1000 in new in the box. 800 in excellent down to 200 in poor.

That is indeed a great looking rifle. I'd suspect that price is a little low. Do you have the spare magazine for it?

I've seen a lot of completed auctions in the past 3 years for $1300+ on a wooden stocked Steyr. Current auctions are showing $1500 wouldn't be out of line.

Dr. Rob I do not have the spare mag for it. I have looked for one, however. Seemed like a good idea since they are made of plastic! I received the rifle with 1 mag, that is it. No paperwork or case, which isn't a problem since I had a nice spot in the safe for it. In these pictures there are spots that look like scratches, to me. They aren't scratches, just light spots that my phone decided to put emphasis on. Besides a couple of rub marks on the barrel the rifle itself seems to be in great shape. I have had it for about 2 weeks, was hoping to get some time this weekend to put a few rounds through it. On the caliber, I had someone say that the 25-06 was somewhat on the rare side according to numbers that were imported, rarest being 6mm Rem... Possibly because of it not being a popular cartridge?

In the late 60's and early 70's the 25-06 was the newest cats meow. A superb long distance varmint caliber. However, so many newer cartridges can do the same thing the popularity of the 25-06 has waned.

A .30-06 magazine should work, functionally they are the same. I understand they run 50-60 a piece but all new rifles came with a spare.

I'm new to the quarterbore. Seems like a great cartridge! Lighter side for varmints and heavier side for deer. I have a spare Leupold to put on it temporarily, had my eye on a Zeiss but haven't snagged one yet. Gotta get a set of rings so I can see how this thing groups! Thanks so much guys for your input. In 1970 I was given a 1903 Springfield with a bad barrel. I re barreled it to 25-06 and made a beautiful heavy barrel sporter out of it. At the time I was stationed at the Yuma Proving Grounds and we were allowed to hunt in certain areas. 300 and 400 yards shots on Coyotes were easy ( Weaver 3X9 scope ) I also took a few heavy game with it. One of my friends decided he nneed more than I , one of those rifles you always regret selling.

A 1903 in that caliber sounds interesting.
