Yep that is a great bore for boars.

H&H - 24!! Oh my - did I ever remember wrong! That is getting close to a chore, no?!

P-95

Yep that was a busy day. ;)

What do you call a wild pig in Indiana? The animal on the spit over the fire.

Nice one Tejon.

Seriously...id definately be willing to come help Y'all out with some O' dem Piggys. :p

Heck, I'll be there too! That'll give me an excuse to upgrade from that .270 I've got to something bigger. After dealing with javalina at several points during my younger days, I would say my first step would be a remote operated .50 on my truck.....

I, too, would dearly love to go hunting feral hogs. My intent would be to use a .54 muzzle-loader and a S&W 29 (.44 maggie) for backup.

What's necessary to do so? License? Guide? Simple landowner permission? Are there areas of the state better than others? I'd want to eat the dang thing, too. Even ground into sausage works for me. I love pure pork sausage!

Seriously, I want to do this. A brother-in-law would be interested a well.

Someone mentioned Wisconsin. I live in Minnesota, so that would be very convenient for me.

You will need a license and permission to hunt on someone's land. The law just changed, and it may be that if you are acting as the agent of the land owner you can skip getting the license--that should be verified with the Parks & Wildlife folks though.

Or you can find an outfitter that sells hunts. Some are pretty reasonable--some aren't.

Try these guys. www.brushycreekoutfitters.com

Game Wardens frown on folks shooting anything without a license. For out of state folks, those little slips are a bit pricey at $300.00

Folks south of me have more and bigger ones....but I have more than I want.

Smoke,

Being a nonresident hunter in Texas I must take exception with your quote.

A small game yearly non resident license is $150.00 and you can get a 5 day small game licencse which is around $35.00. Either of which are good for hog hunting.

The license price you've mentioned is correct only if you buy the deer tags with it.

I've been to a buddy's ranch in Kerrville, Tx several times to hunt pigs specifically. I have been going to his place for over 20 years. I have seen evidence of pig activity and I've seen captured pigs and dead pigs, but I have never seen one in the field to shoot at. :( (Last year I got a nice Axis buck- with my truck :banghead: ) I am going next week to another friend's lease in Junction, Texas. His brother is coming in from Virginia and we are going to try to take out as many porkies as we can. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I could use some pork loin in my freezer. YUM YUM.

Free pig hunting was easier to find a few years back, before some buyers started paying high prices for export to Japan. If the pig population is rising again that's great, maybe the days of free hunting are coming back.

Lots of Texas ranchers use deer feeders (which seems a little like cheating to me), and the pigs will displace the deer at the feeders - that's one quick way to find them! But pigs are smart, especially the older ones.
