loose ak47 side mount rail?

is there any way to tighten the plain side mount scope rails on an ak 47
the thing has play in it
does the screw that holds the lever tighten it?

Not easily. The rail is held on with rivets. If they are loose, they'll at least have to be re-set in a press.

I'd definitely contact the manufacturer and ask them to fix the situation.

depends on who built the rifle. Some side mounts are screwed on and if that is the case, you may want to use some red lock tite and re tighten the screws.

Do you have the cheap Leapers one or the nicer BP-02 version?

There are different variants of side mounts on AK type rifles and sometimes you have to file down/play around with the scope mount until you can get it to fit snugly. This is common.

Tantal sells side rails with screw kits. They're just as stable as riveted, if you follow the directions.
