We have Trump win in 2016, Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court in 2017, Federal Judge temporarily ruling in favor of larger than 10 round magazine owners in California and now Los Angeles is rolling back their gun laws?

"Now the city is poised to eliminate that rule (banning of "ultracompact" guns measuring less than 6.75 inches in length and 4.5 inches in height) in the face of legal warnings from the National Rifle Assn. and the California Rifle & Pistol Assn., which say that the city restrictions have been preempted by state law."

Am I dreaming? Somebody pinch me.

Thank you National Rifle Association and the California Rifle & Pistol Association - I am sending them extra donations for giving us Californians hope.

UPDATE: (8/29/17) Los Angeles City Council voted 12 to 0 today to end 15 year ban on sale of "ultracompact" pistols under legal threats from NRA and CRPA claiming ban was preempted by California state law and these pistols are needed by women and disabled people to defend themselves from attackers - http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-small-gun-ban-20170829-story.html

This is much to ado about nothing. What is the point of being able to own a "ultracompact"" gun if you can not legally conceal carry it?

This statement shows how successful the anti-2A folks are in California;

"Fewer than 800 models of handguns are currently allowed to be sold in California, according to a state roster."

The thing with anti's is that they want to take away all guns. They just come up with any excuse possible.
Large guns are bad because they're powerful. Small guns are bad because they're easily concealable. High capacity guns are bad because they are killing machines. Bolt action rifles should be banned because they can be used as a sniper rifle. Semi-auto shotguns are evil because they're "street sweepers". Etc

I was listening to Iowa Public Radio yesterday and the head of the Black Police Officers Associations(or some similarly named org) was complaining that Trump was removing the restriction on police receiving old military items. The 2 examples he gave were grenade launchers and bayonets. BAYONETS! Really? Are people really against police officers have 16th century technology?

Sorry for the rant and good luck with reversing course in Cali.

Really, this is huge news for us.

After several decades of anti-gun laws in CA that spread to other states, it's refreshing to see ANY anti-gun law in CA be reversed.

It FEELS like I just punched back after having my hands tied behind my back and beaten for decades. :D

What's next? I get to keep my legally purchased 10+ magazines? ;)

San Francisco is always getting its laws stepped on because of state preemption. They waste a lot of money defending those stupid laws. Fix the potholes first. You've got no shortage of neighborhoods with million dollar homes and potholed streets. In fact, almost all single family dwellings are near or over $1 mil now.

Or less mala prohibita, that creates the economic distortions that finance the gangs.
Meth is a product facilitated by the drug war.

Are they referring to the law for Reseda?

(Hence the reason Turners always has guns listed in their ads that say "Not available in Reseda)

No, city of Los Angeles.

Today, Los Angeles City Council voted 12 to 0 to end 15 year ban on sale of "ultracompact" pistols under legal threats from NRA and CRPA claiming ban was preempted by California state law and these pistols are needed by women and disabled people to defend themselves from attackers - http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-small-gun-ban-20170829-story.html

I didn't know LA had that law..... I only knew about Reseda.

Since Reseda falls under the city of LA in a some ways, do you know if it affects Reseda?

Isn't it a moot point with the Handgun Roster? I bet they just don't want more than one prohibitive scheme up for review at the same time. More ways to drag out respecting the RKBA when you have un-examined avenues like these that can be put up after the Roster is struck down.

I will take ANY reversal of gun laws in any city in CA.

I tell you, having grown up in LA, reversal of this law feels like punching out the rapist who has been raping for decades.

Never know, this could fuel other anti-gun law reversal in other cities like Reseda.

Keep in mind this was work of NRA and CRPA. Without their legal fight back, this would not have happened.

Every victory should be celebrated, and I hope this simply strengthens all of our resolve. It is possible to fight and win, always fight!

FYI-Reseda is part of the City of Los Angeles.

To a great extent, this law was immaterial. It prohibited to sale of those guns in LA, it did not prohibit the possession. A person could go to any of the nearby cities (Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, etc.) that are not part of LA city and buy any of those guns that the sale is prohibited in the city proper.

It was a nice move for a change. So many steps backwards over the past 20 years that one tiny step came back. Onto standard cap mags and throwing out microstamping. ;)
