Any Tikka owners with 40mm scopes have advice?

I have Tikka T3 Lite with EGW Picatinny Rail 0 MOA.
Mounting a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40
Looking at both Leupold and Warne Quick Detach rings.
Want to keep the scope as low as possible, so my question is which height rings should I get, Low or Med?

Being that this is my first post, here let me thank the forum for all the info I've gathered here over the years....great group of people.

Welcom GS pilot... I'm guessing BMW GS, yes?

hoghunting's Brownell's link is the way to go... and, be aware that different ring makers use different references for measurement. Some from the base to the bottom of the scope tube, others to the scope/ring centerline... so you add 1/2 the scope diameter for the latter.

Thanks for the quick replies, yes the GS is for my 1150, love that bike!

I appreciate the Brownells link but the rifle and scope have not yet been delivered so I can't take physical measurements yet. I'm finding a few references on various forums that lead me to think the "Low" will be work fine with a 40mm scope on a T3

I want the Quick Release feature because I'll want to try out the Zeiss on my Flat Top AR once in a while.

Chances are the objective bell is 44mm or less, and that calls for a minimum of .366 inches from the receiver to the bottom of the ring/tube. The EGW rail is probably no more than .275" thick... so yeah, you're probably right on the rings. ;)

Generally speaking Low rings work fine with 40mm glass. There are exceptions depending on the individual bases scope, and barrel profile.

The rail is what will make the difference. I've tried medium rings with EGW rails on Savage rifles and the scope ended up way to high. Low rings are what you're going to need. The only problem that you will run into with the Tikka is if you get the extended rail. The objective bell might hit the end of the rail. Simple solution is to either get the normal length rail or cut the extended rail off and touch up the cut with a good finish.

As far as transferring the scope to your flat top AR, you'll need a pretty good height riser on the AR to both get the scope to clear the rifle and to get the scope high enough to see through. You almost always need extra-high rings on an AR, regardless of scope objective diameter, just to get the scope positioned correctly for you to see through it.
