Just getting a Dillon 500 set up for .308. I have carbide dies but I wonder.

Do you guys lube cases anyway even with these dies?

If so, what kind? I've used the One Shot before on single stage stuff.

Thanks as always.

Use lube because it is "Bottleneck", that is my understanding.

That is one problem I find in reloading, the info is often out of context.
I guarantee you "Imperial sizing die" will be suggested. Let us know how .308 goes on that press & any lube issues.

Good Luck,
WNTFW

i always lube at leasts some of the cases, even if they dont actually need it. it just makes the process that much smoother.

imperial sizing wax is great stuff as WNTFW already mentioned.

Is the expander button carbide, or the sizer itself? I ask because I`ve only seen ads for custom made carbide dies for bottle neck cartridges and they are pushing as much $$ as the Dillon press.
I`d lube the cases. Even carbide straight walled case dies are helped by a touch of lube every couple cases. The lube seems to smooth things out.

The DILLON catalog says "PLEASE NOTE: Carbide rifle dies still require case lubrication!" The catalog also says " For high volume users, such as commercial loaders, law enforcement agencies, and high power or military competitors, we also offer .223 and .308 die sets with a full-length carbide resizing die. Lubrication is still required , but the increased scratch resistance and die longevity of carbide are of great benefit to these groups of users." For twice the price of regular, you can have Dillon carbide dies

Yep, you still need to lube. FWIW I lube everything down to 9mm, it just makes everything smoother. Two squirts of Dillon case lube are all it takes.
