Lyman Decapping Pin

The decapping pin broke in my Lyman 38/357 full length sizing die. I ordered a new one and I received one quite a bit longer than the one I had. Is there any way to take the pin out of the top and grind some of the length off?

I just checked the Lyman website.You received a universal decapping rod.They also have a pistol decapping rod that is shorter.I doubt if it is possible to remove the rod from the threaded parts.The correct item is available on their website for $4.50 plus shipping.
