M-M40 with HI Lux Redfield Accu Trac Retro Scope

I am adding a Hi Lux 3X9 Retro USMC Scope on a Remington Scout Sniper Association M-40. I had a Leupold Green 3X9 on it. I have Badger USMC M40 Mount. As a Marine Infantry Platoon Commander in the early 1970s we had a couple of them in the Battalion Armory. I seem to remember the Armorer said that the scope position of the tube on the rings had a standard position for initial use and then the sniper adjusted the position. I looked at photos on the net and it seem that the tube space is half an inch from the front of the front ring. Anyone have an initial setting. Thanks. Jim. Bedfordtec
