Hi all, hoping some of the more experienced Garand enthusiasts can help me on this one.

Ok. So I am at the range yesterday. 1st Garand and I load an enbloc. Clip ejected after 7 rounds. Turning the rifle on its side I notice the clip latch pin has walked itself forward probably a kinetic result of recoil. Anyway, it disengaged from the rear part of the receiver causing the assembly to come loose which ejected the enbloc. Forgive me if my articulation is unclear. Anyway, put it aside.

Question is, anyone seen this? My thinking is to just replace the entire clip latch assembly but if there is another easier fix, I'd love to hear about it from those of you who know. Would like to get back out on the range with it as quickly as possible.

Sounds to me you must have the pin installed backwards
You need to remove the action from the stock, push the pin in from the front of the hole in receiver and push towards the back into place. Install action into the stock, the stock holds the pin in place

Ok. Must have been backwards all along. Let me try this and see if that corrects it. I had not removed the clip latch pin.

Nope tried that. That pin is flat on one side and only fits one way. Pin is easily moved and not a tight fit. Thinking I may just replace the whole clip latch and be done with it. Also, the stock allows it to travel so it may be a good excuse to replace the furniture with a nice walnut set. It's a Greek return and I'm not in love with the stock anyway.

I know Garands well, have collected, fired and built them for years
You must not have the correct pin . The pins do not have a flat side and are installed from the front. As I said before the stock holds the pin in place.

I got to thinking ,the correct pin will only install from the front. It will not install from the back. If yours is ground flat on one side someone must not have known any better and filed one side so it would install backwards
