Some folks prefer the Springfield Armory name, some want the H&R Arms because they made less of those. H&R are "post war" - after the Korean War - and SA can be from WWII vintage or post war. They are all M1 Garands, and I chose H&R because there were less of them made, and they probably took less of a beating and had better quality control as they were post war. I do, however, now want a Springfield Armory M1
hey Override, If you have a chromed barrel look for the NM on the end of the barrel(near the muzzle),one of the national match improvements near the end of production was a chrome lining.Maybe you got lucky on a match barrel.
Guys, you are all awsome, I will order mine in a few weeks. I am going with the H&R, they are beautiful. You all gave me the info I needed to make a wise choice, and I appreciate it. I will post pictures in a few months when I get it.
