OK so as a history lover, these little surplus M1895 revolvers I see every where are catching my eye. They look like the are built like tanks, tell a story of years gone by and are cheap as heck. So whats the story on these? I have heard they have a very heavy trigger and just not the best of shooters and although I would shoot it (guns are made to be shot), just the history of them would be a larger reason for me to own one and pass down someday.

More important, what about the cartridges for these revolvers? They look completely different than anything I am use to, seem they would be hard to reload and don't seem at first glance to be easy to find... Do they shoot anything else? Is ammo as hard to find at reasonable price as it appears, whats the future look like on these?

Thanks guys! Always find a lot of knowledge here and sure some of you can give me the run down on these old irons.

Thanks for those links RC. A lot of useful information on both the round and revolver there. I don't reload, at least not yet... So it seems I would pretty much have to convert over to .32ACP or really keep a keen eye out for surplus ammo, if I plan to shoot much at all.

Overall based off those sites. I think I would like to have one just for the history of the firearm but might would be seldom shot, making it low on my list at the present time.
