m77 mk1 whats it worth question

I saw what looked to be a m77 mk1 ruger in 243 heavy barrell.... 98% or better blue and wood... has a nikon buckmaster 40mm variable scope.... wondering what a fair price would be? I dont know much about the value of rugers, and havent seen many heavy barrell 77's around here.... I didnt look close enought at the model and serial #'s to be any more exact than described above.... tang safety, no red butt pad, no flatbolt... thats about all I remember about it. Thanks for any help

Tang safety makes it an older model, although not necessarily an antique. Are you dealing with original owner? Ask if anyone has worked on the trigger.

If in very good condition, you may want to start the bidding at $250 and go as high as $400. I am sure it would take $700+ to buy one new, but then you would get exactly what you want.

I'm not high on heavy barrels, but if you can get a deal, it might be worth toting about. See if you can get 'em to throw in gun case, sling, dies and other accessories for the gun. Good luck.
