these magnetic sticks resemble a ski pole. they were designed to pickup spent shotshell hulls in the field and at skeet ranges etc they work great!!

The magnet is very strong, I had a ping moment today when a spring and a small plunger that fits in a Browning SA 22 barrel nut decided to launch off into space. I was aware of the possibility of a launch off so I was working on our dining room table. Well the first launch off was uneventful found the missing minuscule part quickly. the second launch off had me worried. I made sweeps around the entire room for almost 45 minutes no minute plunger. I widened my search and found the little beggar!! finally got the rifle back together.

I could not have found it easily with out the mojo magnetic stick.

Take home message get you one it finds small parts lost in grass, or in a clutter shop etc.

A workshop with smooth and regularly cleaned floor is a must. Also a good, strong flashlight that is put on the floor helps to see the shadow of the part one is looking for. Don't light from above - keep your light as low as possible and everything, even the smallest part, will be highlighted perfectly.

Placing a 1 or 2 gallon, (yes they make them, U-line stocks them) zip bag over the path of most likely trajectory makes things a lot easier. I have a small magnet on a retracting handle that has found small parts for me before, also.

I just call my wife. The little parts snatching gremlins are afraid of her and immediately return the lost part to where it's easy for her to find. :D

I keep a mechanis's magnet on a stick and a stout LED flashlight handy but I have found the gremlins have no fear of me.
