Hi everyone, I just got word that yesterday 3 anti Second Amendment bills (LD265, LD267 and LD189) were "referred to committee"

I want to contact my state senator and rep, i have their contact info already, i just need to write a letter.

my question is, should i write my congressmen now or after/if the bills make it out of committee?

should i write the committee members directly and voice my opposition to them?

which is more effective?

Im new to politics, the learning curb is rather steep. I want to protect the Second Amendment and i know contacting my congressmen both state and federal levels is the way to do that. any help or teaching/instruction you can offer me will be greatly appriciated.

Write and call now and after. If it comes to it. Also, join sam and of course the NRA.

There are several bills trying to make enforcing any federal or state laws that violate the constitution being presented as well.

Loud mouth fatty dion is just on the TV more.

There is another thread in activism about Maine and a link to all the bills. Aaron Libby from Waterboro proposed two of them. What part of Maine are you in?

First, know who the chairman and the members of the committee are and focus on those that are not dedicated antis. Study the proposed bills and be knowledgable enough so that when you contact them by email and by phone they can clearly see that you know what the bills are and can clearly explain why they are not acceptable to you as a voter.

While you're at it, contact your legislators for your district and let them know about the bills and exactly why you're opposed to each specific bill. They may have some influence on members of the committee that can be brought to bear and they certainly have like minded colleagues in the general legislature that can be rallied to vote the bill down if it makes it out of committee.
