This is a test report on a new loader for MAK-90 .223/5.56 magazines. I had searched for weeks for an auto loader for my mags without any luck until I came across this website: http://www.cammenga.com. I emailed the company and was told that they didn’t presently manufacture a loader for my weapon but that they were willing to look into the possibility. They suggested I send one of my mags to them to see if it could be done. I agreed to do so and to my surprise in about a month I received my original mag back as well as the loader.
I found out that because of the design of their SKS loader very little if any modification needed to be done on the device to make it work for mine. I loaded eight 30 round magazines with it in about 10 minutes. Most of the time was taken just opening the boxes and removing the ammo from the plastic holders. The actual loading took less than a minute and that time was used inserting the bullets into the loader. Best of all, no sore thumbs!
I did discover one trick, though, when loading a 30 round mag it is best to do the first 20 then the additional 10 in that order. Because of the position of the 10th round it made it difficult to load the next 20 if you start with 10 first. This happened on only one of my mags so I was reluctant to even mention it and it may have been the magazine itself that was at fault. I tried to duplicate the problem when setting up for the photos but it didn’t happen again. This is obviously not an issue with 20 round or less magazines.
I paid for the loader so this is an unsolicited and unpaid for endorsement. This company is willing to attempt to modify a loader to meet someone’s particular rifle and if it can’t be done there is no charge other than the shipping. If it can be done the price is the same as one already in stock, no special or extra charges. They even include shipping in the cost of the loader which was $39.95.
