THE RULES
You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a B-16 25yd slow fire target for both the15 yd and 25yd classes. Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

The target used will be a B-16 25 yd slow fire target as is the match is slow fire. You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper, see example photo attached at bottom the target which is slightly smaller than standard targets that are bought or ordered and the printed ones cut out part of the 5 ring so it's best to buy some if you can. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. See the three sample targets in the photo whatever B-16 target you get it has to have a X ring there are some available that just use orange for the whole ten ring and that can't be used.

Firearm must be held one or two handed, no rests, no benching

Allowed firearms are single action only handguns centerfire caliber like Ruger Blackhawk or Vaquero, Colt Peacemaker and similar clones like Uberti or a Bisley or any revolver that functions single action only, .22 rimfire is not allowed.

There will be three classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 15 yds , fixed or adjustable iron sights only
Class 2, 10 shots at 25 yds, fixed or adjustable iron sights only
Class 3, 10 shots at 25 yds with optics, red dot or laser

Please include with the target submission

username
classification entered class 1, 2 or 3
score
firearm
ammunition
date

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided it was shot with a different firearm. One target submission per firearm is allowed within the class . However if you have a convertible revolver that comes with duel cylinders 9mm/.357 or .45ACP/.45 Colt for example you can submit one target with each caliber used per same revolver in each class. You can enter the same revolver in each class once.

The cutoff date for submissions is March 31st 2019

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Good luck and good shooting:)

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to ask.

Looks like fun! Glad to see the part about convertibles, as I have two Rugers - that just doubled my fun! :D

Question: are we only allowed to SHOOT one target per firearm/classification? Or can we shoot a couple and submit the best? I think your first contest you allowed 2 targets to be shot unless I misunderstood. Either way works.

You can enter each gun one time in each classification. For instance I only own one single action a Blackhawk convertible so I plan on entering it one time in the 15yd and one time in the 25yd however since I have another cylinder in 9mm that alllows you to enter the same gun once again using the other cylinder once in each class.

So those that have multiple single action guns, you can enter them once each in each class.

Understood.... but... can I only SHOOT one target per gun/classification or can I shoot more than one TARGET with each gun and pick the best of the two targets? Or is it one target per gun/classification, what you get is what you get?

shoot as many times as you want and post your one best score for each gun used for each class.

PM a moderator if it's vital. I imagine those who are interested will be bumping it enough that everyone who wants to will see it. I personally Donny even look at pinned threads; I just click on the "new posts" link.

Can someone link a downloadable target? I shouldn't be needing the 5 ring at 3 and 9. This one I can actually shoot inside my barn and not have to brave 4 feet of snow in the yard. I got my snowmobile stuck earlier trying to break trail to my rifle backstop.

here is one source though the 6 ring cut out from this source actually let me check size against other targets tonight first the silvercity one seems off

The silvercity is a no go. The 10 ring on this target fills to 9 on a standard, rings are normal from there vs. the targets you pictured above. I printed one, and thought "gosh this looks easy"....hold on...dammit.

yes everybody DO NOT use the silvercity target link one it doesn't come out right is too small when I compared it to a factory target. Try this link instead it is where I got the first print out test one seen in the photo from the link was down but is working again.

I used the 1bad69.com targets linked above.

Obviously I’m not a bullseye shooter. But that’s ok. I shot 5 rounds each for warmup, then shot for score.

General comment: I shot full wadcutters in .357, TC-flat point in 10mm, and RN in .45 ACP. The wadcutters are really easy to score, flat points not bad, but the RN were a chore. I had to pull out my USPSA scoring overlay, and it was still interesting, especially where I put 6 rounds into one area.

I may have to go back and try again with the .40 S&W and .45 Colt cylinders.

Class 1: 76 points

(I could only find 9 holes in the 15 yd. target. It's possible I have a double in one hole, but I couldn't say for certain, so I scored it as a miss.)

By the way, good month for a revolver challenge. I was shooting the Desert Eagle the other day and was digging all over in the snow looking for my empty .44 cases.

How about different cartridges in the same revolver? For example, submit a set of entries with .357 Mag ammo, and then do another set of entries with the same gun shooting .38 Special? Same thing with .44 Mag / Spl. / Russian, etc.

Is that allowed? Or is that considered multiple entries with the same gun?

I think it would be best to post the best score with the caliber that performed best. The contest is allowing convertible cylinders but to keep it from getting too much keep it at that. However in comments you might want to note how a different caliber did for the sake of information if you want to.

Took our Ruger 32 h&R mag out today to shoot at 25 yards. The load used was what I used to use in our FAS 32, a S&W Long with a 98 grain wadcutter "hotrodded" with about 1.4 grains of WST. :) Put the info on the target but it may be easier to read here.

Confession: I've never in my 35 years of shooting fired handguns for groups on paper at 25 yards.

Excuses for these groups: I left my prescription lenses at home, and this SAA, my first and only, has a pretty rotten, heavy, creepy trigger.

Okay now that the lawyerspeek is out of the way;

1KPerDay
3/10/19
Colt SAA .45 7.5"
MBC Cowboy 250 grain RNFP
Mixed brass, not trimmed
S&B LPP
7.8 AutoComp (targets incorrectly say 7.2; I remembered wrong)

Class 1 (2 hands) score: 94-1x (technically probably a 95 as the 11 o'clock one's grease ring is over the line into the 10 but we'll call it 94).

Class 1 (1 handed) score: 82-1x.

Class 2 (2 hands) score: 75.

I don't have the patience or discipline to shoot 25 yard offhand groups. Yet. ;)

Work was cancelled today due to heavy snow over the weekend, so I shoveled off a 15 yard path behind the barn and gave it a go. I'm a bit rusty with the Blackhawk, threw the first 2 after sighters in the 7 and 8, then I remembered how to shoot. Boy, those 3 9s were close, but the first 2 shots cost me the most. Don't remember the exact load, but it's a light charge of unique under the MB 215 Coated.

Class1 92-2x

Gave the 25 yard class a try, but only managed a disappointing 68 with a different load, so I got mad and shot up the target with the rest of them, so no picture of that one. Couldn't get that round to group, kept throwing a wild one ever third shot or so, and I don't think it was me.

Waiting to see if someone is going to bring out the BFG Freedom arms .454 lol.

So just to be 100% clear, it IS revolver only right? No 1911's?
