I was given a .22 rifle for my birthday and was told my grandfather built it....but it says marlin rifle company on the barrel, but no serial number anywhere i can find, only info i can find is whats printed on the barrel.

"The Marlin Firearms CO. New haven, Conn - EST 18-0"
"Model BI-DL - 22 cal. S-L-LR ----A"

any ideas?
TIA

that is a most excellent rifle, does it have the rear peep site? if it does not, you can get one, off of ebay, or http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/
they are great shooters, and will fire short, long and long rifles, with the feed tube holding 22 to 25 shorts at one time. Awesome. however, since they are so old, with the peep site, you may not be able to fire hi velocity 22lr's, since it was proly made before hi vels came out, and the rear peep site cannot adjust up enough, to get them in your site pic downrange.

It has fired LR hollow point shells just fine, and has the best cross hairs i have used, hits dead on every time :)
