Anyone out there mount a scope on their Marlin 336 with a super low ring mount? I have the rifle and scope in the title, and mounted in with medium rings. I have to set my chin on the butt to center the view, and that's just way too high for me. Anyone with their 336 saddled with a 20mm obj scope in super low rings, please post photos. Thanks in advance.

Since you have the scope mounted already, get a deck of playing cards and measure how much clearance you have beneath the optic at all of the low points - beneath the adjustment body and beneath the ocular bell above the hammer.

It’s a Marlin levergun - adding a scope will mean you also need a cheek riser.

I also can’t recall whether these were lows or mediums, and of course, that 40mm objective needs more height than a straight tube, but you can see how little air there is beneath the optic, and between the ocular bell and hammer. That’s set up for my wife shooting offhand, which puts the scope really far rearward - about a full inch behind my comfortable position. She also uses 1/4” lower cheek than I do, I ride my cheek bone with less cheek smashed on the stock, with higher cheek bones, so I have to add another shim under that pad when using this rifle. I do recall there’s over an inch of cheek riser there, however, so talking about a tenth of an inch between lows and mediums isn’t really pertinent - Whether it’s shimming the cheek to 1.3” instead of 1.2”, eh, who cares...

Marlin 30AS with 1-4x 20mm Leupold in low rings, IIRC. I set this one up back in 2002. This setup could have been a hair lower if that base were just a little thinner. I've heard that Marlin lever guns were never designed with optics in mind. Never tried a cheek riser on it because I'm guessing it's just low enough for me and I shoot it good so it got left that way. IMG_3209.JPG IMG_3206.JPG .It's a 30-30 woods gun so a 1-4x, or 1-5x with a 20mm objective is ideal for the cartridge and the ranges involved, IMHO.

not a leupy scope, but this is low as I could make mine go: warne scope mount is about 3/16 lower than every other mount I have seen. The I used burris signature low rings. I had it in leupold low vertical split rings, but the burris were a little lower.

Imaged above, if I went any lower on my scope there would be no way for me to manipulate the hammer on the Marlin. Even where the scope is now it is a tight fit for my thumb and I added a hammer extension. So be sure you don't go too low.

I have a FXII 2.5 coming. I am going to mount it on a one-piece Leupold mount using low rings. I should have everything by early next week. I cleaned up the rifle today and prepped the receiver so I am ready to go when the scope arrives. I will post some pictures when I get it together. I am hoping that it will end up like this one:
