Devil's advocate here, collectors and enthusiasts will likely pay more.

Practical hunters will likely not take them for free as ammo can he a pain to get.

I only day that as most firearms guys I hang out with now only want tools for hunting, and I can hear them complaining about it haha

I owned a Marlin .375 way back when.
A sweet rifle.
Basically a 336 with a half magazine and a steel fore end cap without the barrel bands.
Came with a nice adjustable sling and detachable sling swivels.
The cartridge is comparable to the .35 Remington.

I have a 444 Marlin:

I used it for hunting in West Virginia for years. I liked it and it was a good deer rifle for the countryside I hunted, short and handy. Mine was a gift from my wife maybe 25-30 years ago.

Hell yes, at $300 each you got a hell of a deal since either rifle would bring what you paid for both and leave money for ammunition. :)

. I bought a Marlin 1895gs 45/70 from what I'm reading and what I've been told it looks like the year was 2002. I just took it apart and slicked everything up and cleaned it really good. It's amazing how polishing all the parts up make it smooth as silk
