I have a Marlin Model 24 Shotgun from about 1908. It is a 12 gauge, and was my great grandfathers. It is used and I wanted to shoot it again. I have had it checked out and cleaned about 15 years ago by a smith and he said it was worn but ok for light loads.
I pulled it out today and decided to check it out on line. I found the following links about them and the safety checks:

My shotgun does fine except for the last safety check. If you apply rearward pressure to the forearm and lightly press the firing pin in, about 2/3rds of the way it, the gun unlocks and cycles. The firing pin is not fully down. Even I recognize this is a great way of getting the bolt in the eye and that cannot be good for my shooting skills.
Can anyone advise me on a good smith or where I can get parts to get this fixed? I would like to shoot it but I do recognize it has more family history then commercial value, so I would park it if this is out of the question.
