Regarding Marlin lever action rifles...

I'm aware of the QC issues after Remington bought Marlin and I can understand how this would make Pre-Remington versions more desirable and, therefore, pricier if the condition is identical. However, I've been seeing some used (very nice ones) Pre-Remington Marlins being advertised (not here) priced higher than factory new rifles that are otherwise identical. These are not "rare"... just typical/common pre-owned rifles.

What am I missing?

was at a gun show, in Austin Tx, last weekend where Marlins were all going for $400-$550 no matter the condition as long as it was pre-rem. Left the gun show kinda frustrated and bought one off my buddy for $300. In my opinion just gouging, there are still good prices out there might have to look a little though
