I have been thinking about getting a beater .22 rifle . One with a synthetic stock and stainless barrel . While searching a came across the Marlin XT-22 TSR . It looks like what I am looking for .

I have read Remlin's pro's & cons and about the only thing I see bad with the .22's is the canted front sight .

How does the XT-22 compare to the 60 and Ruger American as far as accuracy for those that have either to compare .

I have that rifle with a blued finish. I like it a lot. There's no problem with the sights on it. Pretty much anything made in Ky seems to be pretty decent. I hear all sorts of stories but I've bought half a dozen new Marlins since the company was sold and only one of them had a real problem. And considering the 5 year warranty they have it isn't hard to get things fixed. I did have to wait a long time while they remade a trigger guard that turned out to be junk but that was something I'm sure they ordered from another company. Eventually they made it right. BTW it was a silver TG designed to match up with their stainless and nickel colored rifles. If the rifle you're looking at has a plastic TG that's silver don't get it. They replaced it with the same plastic TG's they have been using for decades which are black.

I love that my XT shoots shorts and holds 25 of them. That's a lot of squirrel hunting without reloading or dealing with mag that hangs down 8 inches.

My XT is very accurate like most Marlins. I have 2 60's, a 795 and I did have a 925 and another 60 and all of them shoot pretty accurate except maybe the 925. I no longer have that rifle as a result actually. But almost every Marlin I ever shot has been pretty accurate. There are more accurate rifles around but they cost a lot more. I won't be letting go of my XT unless I make it a gift to a family member.
