Once again President Bush is demonstrating he has a huge blindspot when it comes to illegal immigration. I see no recognition from the ruling class there is a problem. Northern border, southern border, arabic nations, south American countries, Asia. . . . .it makes no difference. I see no evidence of a political will to address the problem.

There is something bad wrong in DC when it comes to illegal immigration. There is some kind of a sellout afoot. Disgusting, truly disgsting.

The Bush administration has rejected the prospect of mass deportations of Muslim illegal aliens.

The administration plans to relay this message to American Muslim leaders amid the current nationwide alert for an Al Qaida attack. Hundreds of Muslims have been detained as illegal aliens as part of a crackdown by federal law enforcement authorities, Middle East Newsline reported.

On Tuesday, FBI Director Robert Mueller will meet American Muslim leaders to discuss federal measures against Al Qaida threats. Muslim groups have filed a class action suit against the government, charging that the Immigration and Naturalization Service has arrested Muslims illegally.

Muslim groups said the millions of Muslims in the United States have been the target of a backlash since the Al Qaida suicide attacks on New York and Washington in September 2001. They said at least 15 Muslims and a Sikh have been killed in attacks around the country.

Officials said Mueller plans to discuss the attacks on Muslims as well as policy toward illegal aliens. They said this will include a law passed over the last year that requires citizens from many Arab and Islamic nations to register with the INS. The procedure also includes photographing and fingerprinting.

Muslim groups have expressed concern that the law will result in the detention and deportation of hundreds of thousands of Arab and Islamic immigrants who arrived illegally or whose visas have expired. The Alliance of Iranian Americans, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the Council on American Islamic Relations, and the National Council of Pakistani Americans have asked a federal court to issue an injunction to prevent the prospect of mass arrests. (Person Comment--since when is it illegal to enforce law. )

But officials said the administration plans to reassure Muslim groups that special procedures enacted over the last year will be limited to those immigrants regarded as security threats.

We will arrest, try, convict and deport, if neccessary, people on an individual basis with due process for each.
 
Everybody knows that Bush is trying to court the Hispanic vote!!

Its very simple. The Blacks will never leave the Dems, and the Repubs need some minority filler.

Just think, the race that will soon outnumber both blacks and whites in this country all voting Republican. No wonder!

K_Y, I'm all in favor of due process. Part of the problem is that this process can take years before an illegal is deported. And this is not just for the so-called "political asylum" segment, which can--and has--taken well over a five- to ten-year legal process.

Too much of this red tape is "un-due" process, IMO.

Questions: We have millions of illegals traipsing in, every year. The courts can handle thousands. How much tax money do you want to spend in staffing these courts to expeditiously handle the workload? And when ten times as many come in illegally as you can process out, what do you think happens to us as a nation? Or does that matter?

I in no way intended to infer that due process be usurped.
Hold them for as long as it takes to get them processed duly and deported promptly.

All illegals, regardless of their country of origin.
 
Simple question

Do you have any legal rights if you're not a citizen of this country?
Sniper boy was an illegal from Jamacia and when they caught him all you heard was will he be tried as an adult, he has rights... bla bla bla. He has no rights if he is not a citizen, he is not protected by the constitution. Art, given the Billions both parties seem to be willing to throw around for other things I would prefer that my tax dollars go to finance a way to quickly ejecting any alien that outstays his legal welcome or comes here illegally. I am an equal opportunity ejector!:scrutiny:

This country is in deep, pathological denial over the effects of illegal immigration. If an individual behaved the same way as this nation they would be institutionalized in a New York minute.

One thread I saw had a posting from a story on illegals crossing from Mexico. INS reported arresting just a shade under ONE MILLION in one year. That’s the ones they caught. You can take a guess at how many made it.

Another posting had an article about the citizens operating patrols in Arizona. In ONE NIGHT on a stretch of land 1500 feet along the border they counted a THOUSAND crossing in from Mexico.

And yet with stories like this and evidence piled to the rafters, there are still debates about whether we should allow them reduced tuitions at college, health care benefits, even Social Security! And now this from GWB.

A country that is clearly under siege and yet our government will not take actions because of political self-interest (votes) and compassion and Political Correctness gone insane. Not only is this unchecked influx eroding our culture since many don’t blend in (the melting pot vs. the tossed salad) but is a perfect cover for those individuals and groups that have sworn to destroy us.

You do not sacrifice a nations sovereignty just because you are afraid to look insensitive. Almost any other country would toss your butt out in a heartbeat if you tried the same thing there. The countries that don’t throw you out on your ear will place you in a program designed by the socialists to provide for you. That leads to the situations we see today in the UK and other western European nations. Going to hell in handbasket describes what’s happening there.

To lose control of borders is to surrender yourself as a sovereign nation. Politicians and bureaucrats are aiding and abetting this treasonous action on a daily basis.

As far as I’m concerned these people are Traitors to this nation and in gross violation of their Oath of office and should be tried in a public court and, once convicted, be publicly executed by hanging by the neck until dead.

This is a very sore issue for me. My girlfriend of 3 years is from Slovakia (Czechoslovakia back then). She, her sister and mom fled in 1989. They made their way to America where they learned the language, went to school, got jobs and in 2000 became American citizens. They even went so far as to change their names to further blend into this culture (Michaela Holickova was a bit of a standout – not to mention that no one could pronounce or spell it correctly).

Does she deny her roots? Certainly not. She has gigs worth of music from “home†on the on our server and converses in and exchanges emails in Slovak to this day with her mom and sister but she is one of the most “American-Americans†that you could ever meet and damned proud to be one.

She played by the rules and yet we sit here in California and watch hundreds of thousands who simply walk in, take what they need from the system and keep voting those that provide those handouts back into office over and over again, cocooning themselves in isolated communities further deepening the divisions in this nation.

I think the average joe knows the score
on this however our government does
not and if we continue on this path we will have no freedom in 25years.
We continue to let some very bad folks into this country and then try to fight
the battle within rather then at the border. No matter how you "pc" it we
have too many coming in, at some point
we will not have the money to pay for
all and then the fight begins. :fire:

YES YOU DO! How is it that so many of you can read the 2nd amendment to the Constitution, but nothing else? The Constitution gives its protection to everybody in this country, citizen or not! Read it! Here are a few examples, from other equally important parts of the Constitution...

Article IV, Sec 2

The citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states.
A person charged in any state with treason, felony, or other crime, who shall flee from justice, and be found in another state, shall on demand of the executive authority of the state from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the state having jurisdiction of the crime.

No person held to service or labor in one state, under the laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor, but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such service or labor may be due.



Amendment XIV, Sec 1

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

So, you see, the Founders clearly knew the difference between a citizen and a person, and went to great pains to protect both. I, for one, am proud that we do.
 
Macpelto is right. The courts have said that "persons" means all persons in the land, not just the citizens. You may disagree with that, but I think it IS suggestive that the term "persons" was used instead of citizens in so many places.
