Its a buyers market for ARs and parts right now so I decided to pick up a "spare" lower in case I get the urge to build another -- I'm pretty well set in the AR department, but might feel the need to put together an 18" rifle with 15" keymod free-float handguard, especially if parts prices continue to retreat :)

At a recent gun show I picked up a Matrix Aerospace lower for $50. I've seen Anderson Arms on-line for $35-45 but after the FFL transfer fee $50 its still a bit less expensive, which is what I really want at the moment. The vendor claimed Matrix Aerospace is the OEM for Ruger's AR lower and he has the exclusive rights for Texas distribution, hence the bargain price -- took this with a large grain of salt but the lower looked good.

Just put it together with a JP LPK and everything went as smooth as could be. For what its worth, I've done a couple of Anderson lowers and they were fine too.

The only thing different with the MA lower is the trigger guard holes are drilled straight through both sides with a bit of countersink in the front, but the standard trigger guard fit nice and tight.

Adding another data point to the non-brand name lower database. The "brand name" lowers are still running $100-150 at shows around here.

matrix does make the recevers for the ruger 556, the rest s probably BS
matrix is out of NH and has no nane recognition so the price is low, dealer cost in quantities is around $35
