A friend of mine has an old Mauser Broomhandle pistol in 7.63 and we were trying to figure out how much it would be worth if he were to sell it. It is in fairly decent shape for the age. it is missing the saftey lever though. The only way that I got the caliber is by measuring the bore. It is not stamped on it anywhere. It seems to be in working condition and still has a good bluing on it. If anyone could help I would be very greatful. Thanks.

Get thee to gunbroker and buy a safety! (there is exactly one on the site right now, Mar 2) $45.00 or so.

Then... you're looking at $650 ish low, up to whatever you want to ask. Who knows what someone will counter offer back in return? There's your value #...

We might take a stab at value if you can provide good pictures. Please, no blurry cell phone fotos taken from a block away on a dark night with the gun held at a 47 degree angle.

Very nice, but it has been refinished so not as valuable as a collector item. Still, even shooters in good shape are commanding over $1K in price. I have one just like yours that I bought refurbed in the mid 90's.

Your friend should try to have the safety replaced. There are different varieties so contact someone who knows which one is appropriate for this pistol. It looks like a 1930's commercial model, but I don't know much about the variations, so I may be wrong.
