MechTech 10mm G20 Carbine

Many of you are familiar with the Mechtech carbine but, what are any thoughts of the 10mm model with a G20 grip? Aside from the outrageous cost of 10mm ammo right now, how do you guys think a weapon like this would perform compared to other pistol calibered carbines? It seems to me that it would have to be at least as effective as a .357 magnum carbine but with the firepower of a semi-auto. I have to say, this really appeals to me since there aren't any semi-auto .357 magnum carbines in existance. It would really set itself apart from the lever action 44/357s and the semi-auto 9mm/40/45 carbines out there.

I would love to get one of these uppers with a telescoping stock, red dot sight, and have it SBR'd to around 8-10" of barrel length. I think a weapon like this would do an excellent job as sort of a modern M1 Carbine. Plus with its compact size it could be put away in a small amount of space but still be deployed quickly with plenty of force to handle most lethal force situations.

Now this discussion is about this rifle compared to other pistol calibered carbines so please do not turn this into the old "get a real rifle" debate.

I have often wondered about 10mm Auto ballistics when fired out of a carbine length barrel. You'd have to work up a whole new set of load data to optimize the capabilities of that cartridge. Given the versitility of the 10mm Auto I'd bet you could easily find some combination of bullets and powders that would easily outperform the .357 Magnum.

This conversion kit would be cheaper than having to build your own carbine. But, as with the recommendation about the .357 Sig having to use factory loads I'd be a little wary about buying one of these kits with reloading in mind.

That's quite the little weapon right there
As long as it's not in .40 short and weak it'll be good probably. Also the mating of a glock grip to a cylindrical reciever isn't as gaudy as I thought it would be.

Had one with an ESD and G20 lower dedicated solely to the carbine. It shot fine, but had no use for it, so sold it. AR is a better self-defense carbine, and I had a lot better hunting rifles, and as a fun plinker it was too expensive, so it just didn't fit into the scheme of things. Would be a decent choice for a just one rifle scenario however. Definitely a lot cheaper to get into than say, a 10mm AR.
