I was thinking about buying some Metalform 1911 mags. Before I do, I wanted to confirm that they have a good reputation. Is there any particular configurations that are know to have problems? I was reading that they make Colt's OEM mags. Is that true?

I have about 25 metalform mags, about half of which are 20 years old w/ round top followers. A few of those need a spring relacement because of failure to lock the slide back. They've performed better in that regard than some of the Wilsons mags of the same era. Other than that I 'm quite happy with their performance.

I have Metalform mags for all of my 1911s - .45, .38 Super, and 9mm - haven't had a bit of trouble with them.

I use Metalform mags in 22LR, 9mm, 38 Super, 40 S&W and 45 ACP. hey have all worked well for me.

I have Metalform mags for my .45 and 9mm probably 10 each-all work perfectly. The only other mags I'll buy these days are Ed Brown, which also work. I've had poor results with some other top brands, so I stick to what works.

The main issue I have experienced with Metalform magazines (at least the welded-base floorplate ones) is that the welds on the floorplate are somewhat weak and I have had at least two floorplates pop off from use.

I've had good luck with Metalforms, but I prefer the Checkmate USGI magazines better.

Hello all, RON L here - SERE SURPLUS

I have used Metalform mags for over 20 years now and I've yet to have any function issues with them! I've as well Tried Winson ED Brown and others witnthe same Results but Piad way too much more (In My Opinion for the Wilsons) than I did wit the MMC, Ed Brown or Metalform! Looks like quite a few mags ae Simply Name Items and others just perform? LOL I prefer drop flooplate mags and the ones I have are MMC and worked quite for for over 15 years now! I've tried the Checkmate USGI mags and if I get for a Good $ they are well worth the search as well!

I've had some jams with metalform 10rd mags from CDNN, FWIW. Most people say the metalform 7 rd mags with the dimpled follower are the ones to get. They have a very good rep.

7 rounders are OE for Springfield and Baer (so I hear)...I have many...I prefer the round top with Wolff extra spring but the split top followers work fine in many 1911s...
