Michigan and Guns?

The reason none of the links posted had info on the use of deadly force is because that really isn't a subject of Michigan's firearms laws. The use of force would be covered under the general Michigan laws regarding battery, assault with a deadly weapon, justifiable homicide, etc. You'd have to put practically the whole Michigan Compliled Laws on-line to truly cover the relevant laws.

The *huge* difference between Texas law and Michigan law is that in Michigan you CAN NOT use deadly force to protect property. You can ONLY use deadly force to protect life. I'm sure there are other differences as well, but that's a big one.

When you take the Michigan Concealed Pistol License class, the attorney who does the legal portion will discuss Michigan laws regarding the use of deadly force and the Michigan Concealed Pistol License law.

Well you have to read every page on the state police website concerning who can or cannot get a handgun in michigan first, some things as simple as a DUI conviction/ticket within 8 years of date can deny you a purchase permit..

However you need to get to michigan, get a home address, and get to your local state police store and get the CCW packet and start shelling out money when youve read it a few times.
From what I have read on it so far, the worst will be sitting through the actual class and doing the testing.

Purchasing a pistol in Michigan, there is NO getting Delayed... as the purchase permit is the NICS background check... the law enforcement agency issuing the purchase permit will do a background check at the time of issue...
