Hi Folks!
figure Id make my first thread a good one:cool:

I own a Taurus PT111 stainless slide Millenium Pro 9mm.
I love the thing.
Got it in October.
Since then, Ive put anywhere from 20 to 100 rds of various ammo thru her each day.
NO failures, of ANY kind!
Ive limp wristed it with intent to cause a Jam, Dozenz of times.. no jams.

It hits the same place every time(within 20 yds), tho it hits low/left of the POA bout 6 inches at 50 ft.

so far im quite impressed
For $325 with 2- 10 rd clips, new, in a case.. Im proud!! lol

I did quite a bit of research before I bought a compact/sub-compact, I was tossed between this Taurus, and a Khar P9.
I still want the P9.. But price and capacity were 2 major determining factors in my decision.
Reliability? No question! within its application, I would trust my life with this gun, and would confidently protect my family with it aswell.

Its a powerhouse!
I was going to get the PT145, the 45acp model of the same gun. however, she does pack a punch with the 9mm. so Im glad I went with instinct. once I got the feel of her, Im grouping 8shots> 10in at 25ft, as rapid as I can. with CCI Blazer 115gr FMJ.

the cleanest most accurate (Target) food for this girl is the CCI Blazer 115 gr FMJ. 30 shots and nearly NO residue.
Awesome loads, Hands Down..

Ive tested a few JHP loads thru her.
for Defence, I keep Win.115Gr Silver Tip HP loaded.
Dirty as hell to shoot, but all my tests prove its an amazing 9mm load, and quite smooth to handle.
Ive got the Win. STHP 147Gr to try out now aswell, but at about$30 a box of 50rds.. aint cheap to get the feel of a load!

the Win *USA 147Gr JHP (Personal Protection) load is also QUITE the fine load in her belly, and at 10 bucks a box, Im liking these copper plated hole punchers a lil more than the silver ones:scrutiny:

anyway, Id love to hear anyone elses exp with the Millenium Pro line of pistols
Im interested in the PT 145. and WISH they had a 357Sig model!!!!!

piece, IP.

I got the exact same pistol as a Christmas gift from my son, except he paid $300 NIB and it came with two 12-round mags. It is my primary carry gun in a Fist K8 kydex custom holster that is tuckable, has adjustable cant and interchange belt attachments. Mine has the key chain loop for extra camophlage.

My first Taurus pistol was the PT-111 Titanium Millenium (non-Pro) which I bought ($359 used) for it's light weight and perfect grip fit and feel. Then I bought a blue 24/7 9mm with 2 17-round mags for $325 NIB.

All three Taurus pistols are 100% for at least 500 rounds each. The cheapest ammo that I use most of the time is the Blazer aluminum case and it has always been flawless. For self defense I use 124gr TAP which always feeds and fires well.

I can shoot full magazines into 5" at 21 ft semi-rapid (1.5 to 2 rounds per second), which is plenty accurate for me. From a rest at 10 yds I can group a magazine into 2" with my 24/7.

I like the 9mm round and would love to see Taurus come out with a good 9mm carbine.

+1 to the Mil pro 111

Bought one for my wife in November. We've taken it to the range twice. Have about 170 rnds thru it. wwb, magtech, Pmc Starfire. All shoot very well to POA. My wife shoots it better than I do! Has a great trigger. One thing we learned quick with this gun, use the pad of your finger, not the crease. Do that, and the holes go right where you want them. For some reason when I use the crease with this gun, the shots go low and to the left for me. ;) It was a little tricky to take apart at first, but then I learned if you release the slide and let it go slightly forward, then pull it back again, the pin just pops out! They should put that one in the manual. That and working the trigger while pulling the slide off. I really like the double springed guide rod. It really absorbs recoil well. Overall, very pleased with the purchase. :D

The compact millenium pro pistols are an excellent value. I have the PT145 in black trim and I have had zero failures so far (a few hundred rounds). However, limpwristing the 145 will result in a failure to return to battery, as discovered when my wife shot one that belongs to a friend of ours (we had left mine at home that day). It's pretty hard to limp wrist a 9mm bad enough to cuase a failure, but much easier with a .45 or 10mm compact. They need all the inertia; not most, all. GLad you're happy with your purchase. Perhaps a 145 looms in your future, though-they truly do not snap bad at all. A bit of muzzle flip, but pretty mild recoil, really.

I have had my stainless PT-145 Millennium Pro for a couple of years now. It's proven 100% reliable with whatever I run through it, and very accurate.

Go ahead and get a 145, if you want .45 ACP stopping power. The recoil is surprisingly mild.

I to am glad you are happy with your purchase and i wish you all the luck in the future. great range report, keep em comming and welcome aboard! i benefited alot from this thread it was exactly what i needed to hear I am on the hunt for a 9mm compact to sub-compact for carry and I was thrilled to see your thread. Thanks again!

DEFENCE AMMO TESTS:

While my tests here on the farm are far from Scientific, they are however, Revealing..
Each bullet passed thru A 1 Gallon container of water, into water soaked phonebooks placed 6 inches behind the jug.

Its NO ballistic gelitain... However, I prefer to know what a specific load does when it impacts an object. Its a bit more of a piece of mind than just knowing the bullets were the most expensive in the store..:what: especially in a defensive situation..

I need to run more of the 147Gr STHP, as it IS the smoothest running/easiest to handle, and its my ideal balance between expantion and pennetration.

as of now, the 115 Gr. STHP loads preform with quite consistant expantion, the best of the loads Ive tested.
Both 147Gr. loads have deeper pennetration in the targets I tested against, running between 3-4 inches deeper before a stop.

115Gr STHP end expantion, sits at a bit over 3/4 of an inch, with supreme retention, and sufficient pennetration.

one thing for certian about the STHP, I would not want to be on the recieving end of one of these!! I could see one of these not

I just bought a PT145 Mil-Pro. Fit and finish is great and it seems like a great gun with a good, but long DAO trigger. I am going to shoot it tomorrow after work and see how it functions.

My PT-145 is a week old and I have already put about 100 reloads thru it, including Hornady XTP's and Ranier 200 gr Flat points. No jams and it groups nicely (about 2" at 20 yds benchrested) The DAO trigger is tough to get used to, but it's not a long range thing anyways, just a carry gun. I love the little thing- $374 new.

I bought a PT145 (SS version) last spring and I am very pleased with it. After about 350 rounds of various brands and weights of bullets thru it, there have been zero failures. I was suprised to find that the double stack configuration makes the grip no wider than my Ruger P89 or my SA 1911.

With 230gr FMJ target ammo, I can get 8" groups at 25yards. Shooting from a rest is a little better. I figure at distances from 5 feet to 20 feet, I should be able to get 2 inch groups with no problem. The trigger puill is not the best in the world, but it's my carry weapon and not a target pistol.

I did find that 185gr ammo gives a bit more recoil but overall, recoil is not much more than my 1911.

The best part is that I got it for $305 NIB!! :D

my PT 745C (45 ACP) has been a bit of a pain, but I'm still hoping I got a monday morning or friday afternoon production.

Mine has a problem with light primer strikes... usually gets a ftf due to light primer strike at least twice per magazine. It's currently back in Florida a second attempt to fix the problem. If it comes back again with the same problem I'm going to use the pistol as a target for a .308 rifle.

Not to cause remorse, but OUCH! I ended up $283 out the door brand new.

Don't shoot it, sell it.

Don't shoot it, sell it. Let it be someone elses problem and just get rid of it for cheap. Someone else can send it back to Taurus and have the headache, at least you'll recoup some money this way. If you have a friend with one, try swapping slides, they look like they will all fit each other.

Worth a try.

2,000 rds thru her now, no jams.
Im thinking about the 24/7 in .45 next.. but I want a nother one of these MilPro's!

UHHH the Pt 145, what can I say...It had to be one of the best choices I have ever made in purchasing a handgun..this little guy hasnt let me down yet..Its easily concealed, very comfortable, very stylish, very accurate, reliable, etc etc etc...Ive been using the 230gr Golddots for it and am anxiously waiting for my Hornady 185gr xtp ammo that I special ordered last week..now im just waiting for the pt 24/7 to come out so that I can get me a nice 9mm..since I sold my p95 to buy my pt145..:D

After thoroughly checking out and shooting a Smith and Wesson,
a Glock, and a Taurus in .45 ACP at my local shooting range. I
decided to get the Taurus. I got a PT-745 Pro at a gun show
for about $290.

After shooting 100 rounds through it, the first time, I had 3
feeding problems (2 - Corbons and 1 - Magsafe). All FMJ loads
feed no problem. Being the perfectionist I am, I decided to
return it to Taurus.

Got it back in about 2 weeks with a new barrel. Since then,
no more problems. Great gun, especially for the price.

I'm really curious about the new 24/7 pro compact now- looks like a sa/da mil pro. If so, I'm hoping for a .45 version.

:)

The more I shoot my PT-145 the more I like it. I have near 3000 rounds through it and have yet to have a malfunction of any kind. It is so easy to carry by droping it into the front pocket of any pants or shorts I am wearing. I never thought anything so inexpensive sould be so dependable and just plain fun to shoot. It is easily controlled under rapid fire and it is accurate...

I mean, after reliability.......accuracy is the next prioity of any self defense firearm and for around $300.00 this is one great deal.

I really want to shoot a 24/7 in .45acp and see if I like it just as much.

How does the Mill Pro stack up to say the H&K P2000SK or the Springfield XD in terms of grip?
I can't get my mitts around the aforementioned 2 guns and I bought a W#alther P99c and it fits well.
I'm thinking of getting a Taurus but before I order, want to know if it's fit for stubbier fingers>

I can't speak to the HK or XD but the grip on my PT145 Mil Pro is the most ergo perfect gun I own. My hands are a little on the small side too.

Picked up my PT111SSP-12 last night. If I can get a half-day of vacation today I'll be going out to the woods to see how it functions after I give it a thorough scrubbing and lube job. Otherwise I won't be able to test it out until tomorrow.

Hopefully this gun proves reliable. If so, I'll be purchasing the PT145 as well. The ergo's are so great even for me and I'm a lefty. Yeah, it'd be nice to have the controls on the right side of the weapon, but I can manipulate the safety with my left thumb while unholstering with no problem.
