Installing Trigicon on AR, but cannot get enough "down" from the scope.

I have shimmed it with about 3/64". Might need more.

Will a 20MOA mount remedy this?

Unless something is way off or you are really short or long range (like under 25 / over 800 yards) this should not be that case. The built in base should lock down just fine on the pic rail as is and have plenty of adjustment.

Which model sight is it and what rifle is it going on?

short range ---rainy days so 25yd... hope to get to range soon. Using barrel laser.
Going on AR25, 7.62 flat top.
Out of adjustment. Will want 0 at 100yd.

25 yards is why. Sight in at 100 yards when it quits raining. Your scope is to high from center of bore. You most likely be feet high at 100 yards sighted in at 25 yards. Also have no faith in a laser bore site.

Laser bore sight is not a good indicator of true zero. All its supposed to do is get you on paper at 25. As mentioned the center of the bore and center of the sight is significant. In theory if the laser was perfectly centered it would cast a straight beam out of the barrel. If the sight was perfectly level then it should maintain exactly the same distance above the laser beam - so the dot at 25 yards should be lower than the straight line of sight. Same would hold true at 100 or more yards, but at those distances very minor deviations from perfect laser alignment will move the dot off target. Most AR optics are 2 -1/2 inches or more above the bore axis. Some are significantly more. So you should get a good starting point adjusting the sight about 2 -1/2 inches above the dot at 25 until you can actually shoot and make corrections.
