Are there any modern rifles using magnum pistol rounds suck as 357 mag or 44 mag? I've even thought about picking up a Winchester Trapper and turning it into an EBLR (Evil Black Lever-action Rifle).

Anything else out there though?

Oh, I would prefer a non-AR platform as well. I'm aware of a few large caliber AR's out there but AR's are not my style.

Ruger makes a semiauto (Deerfield) and a similar lever action (96) in .44 Mag. Both look like grown-up 10/22s or civilian M1 Carbines depending on your point of view.

They also make their Model 77 bolt action in .44 Mag, the 77/44.

Otherwise, .44 Mag is most often found in lever guns, as you know, and single shots. The Encore is a great gun, but not any more "modern" than a lever action. :)

Other than the lever actions, the 77-44, and some break open single shots, Taurus makes a pump action copy of the old Colt Lightning. I have shot one made by AWA, and with the short stroke a pistol round allows it was very fast.

I like the lever actions myself. If you MUST paint it black, please don't call it tactical.:p
