June 13, about 6pm (maybe a little earlier) SWMBO & I are in her car northbound at Silas Creek Parkway & Fairlawn (Winston Salem, NC, just nortwest of Wake Forest University). We're waiting for the light to turn left onto Fairlawn. In the left hand of the two straight lanes, a couple of cars ahead, is a dark sedan with the NC license plate MOLONLAB.

I was so surprised to see it I didn't even notice the make or model of the car.

So ... is it anyone here? Shout out here, or in PM

I wish it was me...:D

Did you notice any WFU decals or perhaps a square, white sticker for student parking. I don't know of any students or professors with that sticker, but I only go through 2 of ~10 possible parking lots on campus. I'll keep an eye out for it, though I have a feeling that something like that won't be found on a college campus ;)

i go down Silas creek twice a day(from robinhood to Ebert) but haven't seen that.....and what the heck is molonlab?

agree

No bumper stickers, no decals, no tattoos, no personalized plates, no gun oriented dress, Nothing to make you a target.

That was me.

Leatherneck, I agree totally. That's why I don't have any other indications on the car. However as noted, if you're not one of the tribe, you won't get it.

NeoSpud, according to the NC DMV website, MOLNLAB is available (6/20/07.)

Mr. Anderson, I take that as sincerest flattery...

That's funny. It is funny how we gun folk can spot each other. I often wonder how many people really know what "Got Sig"? means when they see it on someone's car. I spot them right away.

Like many here, I don't advertise, BUT that tag is pretty cool, and as mentioned, how many people would really know what it means?

Jim, thanks for satisfying my 'satiable curiosity.

arjppj, NeoSpud, *and* Jim ... got any recommendations for a newcomer to WS to go shooting? Pistol & rifle (the M-1 needs some exercise!)

Forgot to mention, NeoSpud, that you'll occasionally see a car with the Molon Labe sticker in the window on WFU campus. Not too often, though, as it's SWMBO that works there, and she only has the WFU staff and Whatsamatta U Mom stickers on her car.

Winston-Salem

Wow. Didn't realize there were this many members from that neck of the woods. I spent a good many years in Winston and up in the King/Rural Hall area. I know a few guys with RKBA stickers on their cars. Nobody with Molon Labe, though.

I have a MOLONLABE (but its the actual Greek lettering) sticker on my rear bumper, along with a RKBA white oval on my rear window. 99.9% of those that would want to steal my weapons don't have a clue what they mean, but it gives me an opportunity to explain their meaning to people who ask. I think its good to wear our hobby on our shoulders so to speak, and not make it obscure and secretive. We all need to be working to take the fear out of gun ownership to the sheeples. Other than a small American flag on a side window those are the only stickers or signs on my car.

Seems that there are a number of us in the W-S area. Anyone up for a cup of mud at Borders books Saturday morning?

This isn't off topic is it?

Jim.

I've actually wondered for a while where the locals shoot. Being a student (read: living in a gun-unfriendly environment), I don't ever get to shoot during those months that I live there, except for the occasional potato or two... but that's in Kernersville on private property.

I've been to an indoor pistol range ("Calibers" or something like that, iirc) and it was very nice, but just like all indoor ranges it was just too expensive for me to regularly shoot (I don't have a job then... though this place was cheaper than any other indoor range that I had been to before). A good, cheap outdoor rifle/pistol range would suit me just fine.

Jim- rain check on that coffee? Till after 8/17 or so? ;)

Yup!!! I spot people "printing" their CCW every now and then. I spot NRA stickers a mile away, and note little things like Ruger hats, or S&W jackets, etc...

i have family land in Lewisville and Walnut cove to go to. I've heard that there is a new range opening up in Rural Hall beside the Tractor Supply. There is also a range in Pfafftown beside Deer Run Archery, but i think they are strictly pistol. If you can't find anyplace to go, i'll take the m1 out and let you know how she did:neener:

There is a range opening in Rural Hall beside the Tractor Supply "Triad Gun Source", Grandview Firearms that used to be beside Deer Run Archery has moved to Yadkin County on Baltimore Road but has not reopened. There is also a outdoor range in the Elkin area (only 40 minutes from the Rural Hall area) called Windy Hill Trading Post. Supposedly there is a private gun club in the Pinnacle area, I sent in a application and check in Feb/March/April time frame and have not heard a word from them.

I'd do this for the simple fact that the only time a firearm is in my vehicle is too and from the range. I don't qualify for the CCW in my area and can only get an ammended "target/hunting" "License" too and from the range only.

Someone see's my car and is in the know to break in, they'll be sorely disappointed when all they can get is the car itself lol
