If someone wanted to jump into this AR thing head over heels and build an AR-10 DMR rifle, is there a decent monolithic upper receiver out there? Right now this is strictly a theoretical exercise so we won't consider price, I just want to know what options there are.

While I didn't use the monolithic upper I will second Mega. I used the keymod upper, the handguard is an extremely tight fit to the upper(almost to the point of being a PITA) and then secures with 12 screws.

I've got two LMTs (one AR10, one AR15) and a friend owns a third. All have been top notch in terms of function. All, when equipped with the LMT match barrels, shoot sub-MOA.

I would have no hesitations about buying another.

I question whether it's wise to get locked in to a monolithic upper since there are so many quality standard uppers and first class rails. And on top of that, rails keep getting better every year. KeyMod? M-Lok? Or both? Weight? How long? Styling? It's so hard to roll it all into a one piece upper/rail so I'd rather stay with two units. Who buys a quad rail today!
