My first AR lower has been registered and I got the paper work back so I can finally put this together.

Double Star upper, lower and 11.5" light weight 5.56 bbl.
VLTor stock
Ergo grip
YHM Custom 12" tube with a YHM low pro gas block.
CMMG LPK, JD adjustable trigger, KN pins, RRA ambi selector.
GG&G flip up sights with Trijicon inserts.

Trijicon Red Dot on top of a small riser.

With the stock collapsed its 26" long. Perrrrrfect for a truck gun.

Yes there really is a barrel in there, not just a staged photo

The TRD is coaligned with the sights.

The TRD is on a QD mount, as is the TA-31 which will be used for longer range work.

Of course for home defense I need to make sure I don't disturb the kids sleep.

With the can the barrel is 16" long. Still very handy. The light weight barrel is very nice.
Rifle has been shooting surplus and handloads with out issue. Managing to get about a 2" group at 100yards.

I have something similar in the works, but with a mostly smooth tube, 10.25" bbl, and AAC M4-1k silencer. I love the thought of a quieter AR-15 that is shorter overall than a 16" CAR model!

That looks really cool. Reminiscent of an MP5SD.

The photo is a little dark. Is there a flash suppressor on the end of the barrel in the closeup? It looks like there is one, but I can't tell for sure.
How much of a pain is it to unscrew that when you want to put the can on?

From the looks of it, that's a QD flash hider for the M4-1k from AAC. It doesn't need to be unscrewed, the silencer attaches to it.

M4-1000

Looks good. How front heavy is it with the can on it?

I've thought about a simular build using the TAC-16 can. Might even have the can soldered to the bbl for a one stamp gun, simular to FBMG's AR15 SD.

That looks completely awesome! I've been toying with the idea of building something similar but haven't seen fore ends that cover the barrel like that, very slick! Reminds me of the Gemtech Talon set up, but in a real caliber!

How much inner diameter did you need on the tube to allow the suppressor to fit inside?

That depends on the brand of silencer. In this case, 1.50" or larger ID will work.

Its a YHM can and QD flash hider.
It is a steel can and is kinda heavy. Thats one of the reasons I went with the thin LW barrel.
It is definately better then when it was on an 18". It is way better then my 22" HB.
With out the can it is very nice.

The sling is a Vickers.

I like the look of the barrel flush with the end of the tube. I realise some will not, but I did build it for me :D

That's the beauty of building your own. :)

I think it has a Star Wars Blaster look to it.

I gotta wonder if the blast out the sides of the flash suppressor inside the handguard has any negative side effect?
